fdisk, sysinstall and 6.1-BETA3/amd64

before, and the server has always had two slices on a RAID1 (RAID5 on the
Proliant) array, although admittedly on i386. It's easy enough to fix (just
fdisk -a /dev/ar0 from a fixit and mark slice 1 as active) but it's rather
annoying.

Protecting against kernel NULL-pointer derefs
All,
Given the amount of NULL-pointer dereference vulnerabilities in the
FreeBSD kernel that have been discovered of late, I've started looking
at a way to generically protect against the code execution possibilities
of such bugs.
By disallowing userland to map pages at address 0x0 (and a bit beyond),
it is possible to make such NULL-pointer deref bugs mere DoS'es instead
of code

dhclient in 6.0
hi all... again...
i sent this message to general questions but nobody got excited about
it.
i just installed 6 on my t30 laptop. brand new. when trying dhclient i
get:
DHCPDISCOVER on fxp0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 5
this trys 6 times then this shows up:
No DHCPOFFERS received.
No working leases in present database - sleeping.
i run a tcpdump while requesting a lease and for
