App crashes and exception handling [Was: Re: VirtualProtect and app crash]
...got to the second violation, and single-stepped. I ended up in a function called ntdll!KiUserExceptionDispatcher. I did a little web research and found an excellent article describing the internals of handling exceptions in a Microsoft Systems Journal article from 1997: http://www.microsoft.com/msj/defaultframe.asp?page=/msj/0197/exception/exception.htm&nav=/msj/0197/newnav.htm The article even described exactly what 0x761B10 seems to do when I looked at it and compared it to the article's __except_handler3 pseudocode. Apparently it's from Visual C++. Anyway, I'm now going...

[LLVMdev] Files to lib/System/Win32
No, there isn't. It was originally published in Microsoft Systems Journal. There's no license I can find in any of the files that accompany the article. If publication in MSJ or MSDN doesn't make it fair game, then I guess I'll have to rewrite it. samba PDC and access to unauthorised shares from w2k client
...e usual message box 'Access Denied' the user gets a message box 'Enter network password' on his pc. When trying to access an unauthorised share on one of the other clients, from the same client and with the same user-id i tried to reach the share on the Samba server, i get the usual msj box 'Access Denied'. I dont know what this problem is. Both as well the user and machine have a valid account on the PDC. This problem i never had before with Samba 2.2 and i really have no idea where its coming from. If a user wanna access an unauthorised share the 'Access Denied'...

I suspect that it's not actually a problem: MS *wants* developers to copy the code into their proprietary apps to make them better. However, some reassurance of this is necessary: is there something in the f...

[LLVMdev] Files to lib/System/Win32
Jeff, Thanks for the patch. It looks good except for the code copied from Microsoft. That software is copyrighted by Microsoft and cannot be entered into the LLVM code base without some kind of license. Was there an MSDN license that came with this software? If so, could you please send it to me? Also, the formatting of that code needs to be adapted to LLVM coding standards, like the rest of

[LLVMdev] Books/docs on exception handling
Hi, I'm trying to learn all that I can about exception handling from the compiler's point of view. Although much has been written about compiler theory in general -- parsing, code generation, you name it -- I can find almost nothing on the specific problem of exception handling support. In fact, the most informative document I've been able to find so far is "Bill's

question about changejournal
Hi, I''ve got a newbie question--sorry if this is covered elsewhere, I parsed through the archives for awhile and didn''t see it. I''d like to listen for whenever a file is renamed (e.g. foo.txt -> foo.old) and then magically change it back. This sounds odd, but I''m working with a stubborn application and this will actually make things work nice. So, if I do:

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
