last time I tried to take external atomic disk only snapshot I
encountered bugs
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1004606) and
gave up.
In my box I have virsh 1.2.2 and despite this

backup KVM qcow2 over btrfs or zfs
Hi everybody,
I'm trying to implement in the non profit organization where I work a
backup strategy for our VMs.
At the moment I weekly backup the machine (on sunday nights) by stopping
the vm, making a snapshot, exporting the xml descriptor file and syncing
these files to a remote backup server.
I would really like to make daily snapshot without shutting down the vms.
at the moment the vms

[PATCH] use ncurses-config to find all curses related libs
...n SLES11 nor in openSuSE. So
check for both ncurses5-config and ncurses-config, if the latter happens
to exist in other environments.
With this change xen-unstable tools build succeeds again in SLES11 and
the latest openSuSE development branch.

Tangentially related: casting function pointers in general may get
harder as more compilers move towards C23 and its newer rules (see for
example
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnulib/2023-02/msg00055.html or
this gcc 13 bug https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=108694
which highlights some of the warnings that newer compilers will start
warning us about). While this patch focuses on avoiding casts between
fn(*)(type*) and void*, I don't know off-hand if C23 will permit

Doable. Next question - do you want the snapshot to merely be disk
contents (and if so, do you want to quiesce the file system before
taking the snapshot, to avoid the need to fsck the disks before

A question about memory ballooning
Hi all,
How can I manage automatically memory ballooning under a kvm host
(C5.6 and future C6)?? For example if I define a kvm guest to boot up
with 512MB of RAM and I have configured 1GB as a maximum memory for this
guest, how can I allocate this memory when guest will need it??
And the opposite question, can memory balloon be deallocated?? And is
it possible to do this automatically or

PowerWare 9120 via USB?
Hello...
I have a PowerWare 9120 attached via USB to my Debian system.
My ups.conf looks like this:
[ups1]
driver = bcmxcp_usb
port = auto
desc = "PowerWare 9120"
When testing the driver with "upsdrvctl -u root start" I get:
Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.0.4
Network UPS Tools - BCMXCP UPS driver 0.10 (2.0.4)

Using anova() with glmmPQL()

Looking into this, I find that I am not supposed to use the anova command in conjunction with glmmPQL (several posts from Brian Ripley http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/R-glmmPQL-in-2-3-1-td808574.html and http://www.biostat.wustl.edu/archives/html/s-news/2002-06/msg00055.html and http://www.mail-archive.com/r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch/msg46894.html ) even though it appears that the earlier versions of glmmPQL did allow the anova command to work (before ~2004).
However, I couldn't find any other way to run a repeated-measures ANOVA with famiy=binomial. After...
