DNS replication only working one way

make it over to the old DC.
I have turned up samba logging on each side to 3, and you can see the logs
below from the time I created a record on the new DC (around 13:39:17)
Here are the logs for when I create a new A record on the NEW DC

Samba4 on hosted root server

64-bit. DNS for domain is registred with provider's name servers.
Installed Samba with Bind backend following the how-to on

When I tried to join the domain I got an error message that SRV
_ldap._tcp.dc.msdcs.official.domain not found. No DC can't be located.
I checked if name service is working properly on the server itself:

Joining Samba to Upgraded 2003 domain failing

Thank you for your insight. I have checked over the article and have found
a remnant from the old domain. I think :)
Let's assume the domain is travis.com and the samdom is net.travis.com.
Under this I have a subdomain called _msdcs so I would think this would be
called _msdcs.net.travis.com.
In the RSAT DNS tool I right click and try to delete.
I get "The DNS domain cannot be deleted. This function is not supported on
this system."
So my next logical step is to use samba-tool to remove it.

Replication Error
Hi Denis
Thanks for your response without your crystal ball.
I have increased the log level =9 dns:0 on both the servers. It replicates
successfully by manually running the command
samba-tool drs replicate SERVER2 SERVER1 dc=iumnet,dc=edu,dc=na --full-sync
but it is still failing when I check from the samba-tool drs showrepl
Also I run samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs --fix on both the servers

Samba 4.6.3 DNS replication with Windows 2008 R2 DC

Manager on the new Windows DC, although the Windows DC appears to be acting
as a DNS server ok as it can resolve all addresses that exist on the other
Samba4 DC's.
The only Forward lookup zone that is appearing on the Windows DC is _
msdcs.domain.com, all others are not visible however they are resolving.
Obviously, this means I can't create/delete entries on the Windows DC.
Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas?

WERR_DNS_ERROR_NAME_DOES_NOT_EXIST when samba_dnsupdate tries to add to _msdcs
...an into another problem trying to use it, so I backed off to an older version that I was
hoping was more stable.

Meanwhile, I did find out more about what was causing this error by looking at the source
code.
Apparently, samba was expecting _msdcs.office.example.com to be its own "zone" (not just
part of the AD tree, like it is on the Windows Server side.)
so it returned that error code.
samba-tool dns zonelist dc2 -UAdministrator
did not show it as a "zone" - same on the Windows servers.
