Vista Roaming Profiles and GPMC.MSC
...ded (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=311f4be8-9983-4ab0-9685-f1bfec1e7d62&DisplayLang=en) explaining how to do folder redirection so that at least some of the XP/Vista profile will roam. To do this you have to logon to Vista as a "Domain User" and run GPMC.MSC. The problem is that, even though I logon as a domain user (DOMAIN\user) the GPMC.MSC issues the warning: "To manage Group Policy, you must log on to the computer with a domain user account." With samba 2.2.8a we have no "Domain Users" group. Could this be the problem? Ho...

R Enhancements
...- Venkatesh Mysore and Salvatore Paxia of the New York University's Bioinformatics Group under Prof.Bud Mishra - have been working on enhancements to R for a while now. We're happy to announce that we have some good stuff up and running now: 1. A debuggable Microsoft Visual C version ( _MSC_VER) of R-1.7.0: R-1.7.0-msc (YES !!!!) 2. COM/OLE-support that will allow invoking of functions defined elsewhere (similar to the .ole functionality in S+): R-1.7.0-msc-com 3. Minor Fixes/Extensions: R-1.7.0-msc-com-minor Note that these extensions are NOT dependent on each other. More document...

Password policy under Samba 4?
How does one set a password policy using Samba 4? I've set up Samba 4 as a domain controller with one Windows 2003 server joined to the domain. I've seen mention of the "check password script" option, but I think that's not available in Samba 4, right? I've also seen mention of Group Policies, but I am not sure if this is correct or not because I haven't been able

gpedit.msc as centralized policy for 2k/xp clients in domain
I found this from http://charon.minilab.bdeb.qc.ca/anonym/nt/2000/ads/TTGW2KGP_Vol1through4.pdf I would like to figure out how to do this gpedit.msc+AD+gpc+gpt magic for win2k/xp with linux+samba(2.2/3.0/tng)+openldap and is it possible at all? Thanks. Although GPOs provide significantly more policy features than NT 4.0 System Policy provides, GPOs are stored and processed differently than NT 4.0 System Policy is. In NT 4.0, the System Policy...

windows shortcut for "Group Policy Editor"
Hey all, according to the whitepaper http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc736591%28v=ws.10%29.aspx I would like to a windows shortcut on the desktop that allows me to open and run the "Group Policy Editor" *for my samba4/AD domain*. The shortcut command should be: "gpedit.msc /gpobject:"LDAP://CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=mydom, DC=example,DC=com" I certainly need the correct ID og the object, but how do I find it out? I need to replace the string {31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9} shown on that example with the correct one of...

dsa.msc for Linux
...box in doing so. These guys have written one: www.resara.org It's available as source and it compiles OK, but it is tied to their own Samba 4 backend. I can't get it going with my own build of Samba 4 Has anyone got it working with a native build of Samba 4? Does anyone know of a dsa.msc like tool for Linux? Thanks Steve
