Read data in sequences
...on a same line represent pairs of values for "x1" and
"x2".
In SAS, this type of dataset is easy to read using "@@" as in:
data a;
input Treat @ x1 x2 @@;
But I would like to know how to read it with R, to get rid of my addiction
to SAS.
Thank You,

Avoiding choosing parameters with mix[mixdist]
...way, with mixdist or other package, not to impose parameters, but rather having the function to suggest you what was best by analyzing your data. I read couple document on the subject but I haven't seen that anywhere.
I hope this is clear...
Many thanks

optimising a loop
Dear R community,
I'm trying to remove a loop from my code but I'm stock and I can't find a good way to do it. Hopefully one of you will have something clever to propose.
Here is a simplified example:
I have a squared matrix:
> nom.plac2 <- c("102", "103", "301", "303","304", "403")
> poids2 <- matrix(NA, 6,6,

File too big for filehash?
...uot;cc084.csv", header=T), dbName="db01")
Erreur : impossible d'allouer un vecteur de taille 15.6 Mo (French)
Error: impossible to allow a vector of size 15.6 Meg (my English
translation)
Is there anything I can do?
My R version is 2.8.1.

Modifying values into XML with R
Dear R gurus,
I use R all the time at work, so one day a problem managing my personal arise data made me think: "Why not use R, it does everything!".
Anyway, my goal is to use R to manage my personal music library, and more precisely my playcounts. I have two XML files, one from Winamp and the other one from Itunes. Both have pretty much the same songs, but their playcounts are
