pxe booting questions
hello, I have a situation where I am using PXE and kickstart to install my machines. My set up is as follows: i have a cobbler server which is also an mrepo mirror doing the booting. my mrepo tree has both disc1 and disc2 loop mounted, and RPMS.os symlinks both the discs contens to generate the unified os tree. This all works fine. My issue is with the kickstart, if i use the disc1 as the url (like below) when it tries to install a package that is on...

possible CentOS 5.2 yum RPM checksum issue upstream?
...ey guys.. I'm continually seeing the following error although I've got the latest/greatest yum RPM from various CentOS 5.2 repos (mirrors.kernel.org most recently). is there possibly something wrong with the RPM's checksum somewhere upstream? note: I've already regenerated our own mrepo server various times and refreshed the metadata on my yum clients as well. ******* ~# yum clean all; yum update ... "Monitor" RPMs in Repo
Hi all, Sorry for the bad subject. I'd like to do two things. - Know when a RPM which is currently in only one repository pops up in a different repository. E.g. RPM going from epel-testing to epel. - Get notified when a RPM pops up in a repository. E.g. waiting for an RPM to appear. I know that this is quite easy to find out manually. But did anyone build a script or something else to do

Excluding packages from mirrored repo
The RPMForge Tools list appears to be dead, so maybe someone here can help: I am mirroring the Centos4 updates repo using mrepo. My systems are all servers and have no need of OpenOffice, so I would like to be able to exclude the 4GB (i386 & x86_64) of OpenOffice rpms when I mirror the repo. I have looked at the mrepo docs and done some Google searches, but so far, I haven't come across a way to do this. I see th...

rsync 5.1 base repo question
I have built my repo by copying the content of the ISO images, maintaining the date. When I test with: rsync -avun rsync://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/5.1/os/i386/ \ --exclude=debug/ /repos/centos/5.1/os/i386 the only file listed is: CentOS/yum-kernel-module-1.0.4-3.el5.centos.2.noarch.rpm Which I did not get from the ISOs. but if I leave off the -u option, the list is VERY long. Why? Also

I use 'mrepo' [1] to sync EPEL (and other repos) to a local mirror so systems not publicly routed can get packages. It generates an email of repo changes every time it runs, so I know what is added and removed. I also subscribe to the epel-package-announce list [2] so I can see all the EPEL updates even...

Question on syncing my local repo
...d seems to refuse to use symlinks (I have the repos on their own partition), so I fell back to good old apache (running everything at default with a symlink to /repo/centos). So this question is: what is available in a nice, light, httpd server that can handle a symlink? Finally. I looked at mrepo, but it seems to be designed to serve the repos from the isos. I did not want to do that and thus rolled my own for now. So is there any value for me to go and use mrepo? Oh, and will I need createrepo anymore for the base and update repos? thanks! Finally a local repo. The cost of the down...

Adding Update repository at install time
This is easy with Fedora, as the various 'common' repos are listed and all I have to do is change the URL.... Anyway, I am doing a netinstall of Centos 6.3 i386 from my local repo. I also have the updates repo. How can I add the updates repo so that I get it up to snuff right away (like I have been doing with Fedora for quite some time)? thanks.

Yum site cache
Hi all, since I'm installing several copies of CentOS I was thinking of using some system to save bandwidth. I started looking at mrepo, but I noticed that, if I let him sync with updates and rpmforge repos, I'll end with a _lot_ of unneeded files. Also I have to modify the various yum repos configuration files for it to work. What I would like to achieve is just download the same file only once: does anyone know if there...
