Error: mremap_anon(###) failed: Cannot allocate memory
We're running dovecot 2.2.15 with pigeonhole 0.4.6, in a clustered
environment, nfs with proxy and backend on all servers.
I've been seeing some odd errors from lmtp:
Error: mremap_anon(127930368) failed: Cannot allocate memory
It seems to affect specific users, but it doesn't seem to manifest in any
particular way; no user complaints. Just the occasional log message.
I would guess this is a bug? I'm open to suggestions and I'd be happy to
post config if somebody h...

mremap_anon() failed: Not enough space
Hey folks. Suddenly I'm getting lots and lots of messages like this
in my logs:

I'm running 2.2.36.1 under Solaris 10 (patched to current) on
UltraSPARC. There's plenty of memory, plenty of swap, and plenty of
disk, but this is a fairly b...

A config would always be useful, but I can venture a guess. Perhaps the affected users have a...

I seem to recall these cache files ballooned in size when I did some
doveadm search queries -- under some circumstances some headers fetches
are cached for later searches, which may explain the growth over time
as clients do mailbox searches.
As for Solaris10 mremap_anon() space failures, I'm a litte hazy on
memory mapping and shared memory, but I wonder if this has anything to
do with kernel maximum shared memory limits. I know that for some of
our Solaris 10 servers, I had to up these values in /etc/system to get
some of our services to work.

Dovecot 2.1rc1 + 2.0.16 woes regarding fts_squat
...'s a "risky" sort of thing to do in a server process, even if 8GB RAM systems do seem to grow on trees. I intend to put this to work in a large installation (>10K users), so this IS of some concern for me in the long-term.

The allocate memory error shows up every 10 seconds.
Next I'll try to look into the memory allocation code, but maybe someone
already has a better idea?
Thanks.
