...appens once when agent connections are opened. Then the
ssh process just needs to send the extension, wait for the reply
(whether positive or not-supported), eat it, and move on with forwarding
the remaining bytestream.

...o have end-to-end security I think you'd just ProxyCommand your
way through and then you don't have to care about agent forwarding or
trusting intermediate servers, assuming you have your host key ahead of
time.

...SSH means agent forwarding would
work as intended without having to have anything installed on
intermediate servers, just the custom agent on the client side.
