kernel 4.9.86-30 missing mpt2sas module
...ng ) on CentOS7 After installing everything, the machine was unable to boot and hung in dracut stating it could not find its root device. The testsystem I use is a somewhat aged Dell M915 Blade (Quad opteron 61xx), using an MPT SAS controller for it's SAS boot drives. Stock CentOS 7 reports mpt2sas module being used to access the controller. That module is not present in the modules directory of the 4.9.86: 4.9.86-30: # pwd /lib/modules/4.9.86-30.el7.x86_64 # find . -name "*mpt2*" -print # stock 3.10.0-693: # pwd /lib/modules/3.10.0-693.el7.x86_64 # find . -name "*mpt2*"...

SCSI/SAS error message by mpt2sas.ko
Dear all, actually I installed CentOS 5.4 x86_64 on 11 new Dell R710 servers. It is required to use 5.4 to be covered by the NetApp Interoperability Matrix for use of Snapdrive. All systems spit out the error message mpt2sas0: failure at drivers/scsi/mpt2sas/mpt2sas_scsih.c:4637/_scsih_add_device()! at boot time. In dmesg the complete SCSI initialization logging appears as follows: SCSI subsystem initialized mpt2sas version 01.101.00.00 loaded scsi0 : Fusion MPT SAS Host GSI 22 sharing vector 0x5A and IRQ 22 ACPI: PC...

...dev-disk...device (3min 35s / no limit) Had the console not truncated that line and instead just wrapped the full message so I could see it I would have been a much happier person. Turns out dracut was unable to mount the root file system. So I went back into the 3.10 kernel again to see if the mpt2sas or mpt3sas driver was in its initramfs file... and it wasn't: $ sudo lsinitrd -k 4.9.25-27.el7.x86_64 | grep mpt -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 May 16 12:39 etc/fstab.empty -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 22 Nov 5 2016 usr/lib/kbd/unimaps/empty.uni For comparison: $ sudo...

OCZ Vertex3 SSD and LSI 9211-8i (mpt2sas)
I have a couple development servers running centos 6.3 64bit that have LSI 9211-8i SAS2 controllers connected to a SAS2 backplane. these work fine with SATA hard disks (populated with a bunch of 3TB SATA drives)... I'm trying to install a OCZ Vertex3 SSD on each of the two servers to do some ssd caching tests... system sees the drive, so I do the following... # parted -a min

Bug#603727: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64: i386 Dom0 crashes after doing some I/O on local storage (software Raid1 on SAS-drives with mpt2sas driver)
I have the exact same issue on several Sunfire v20z (hardware LSI RAID controler). Under high IO load, the raid controler starts complaining with disk errors : [163442.483878] mptbase: ioc0: LogInfo(0x11070000): F/W: DMA Error [163445.172333] sd 2:0:0:0: [sda] Unhandled error code [163445.172338] sd 2:0:0:0: [sda] Result: hostbyte=DID_SOFT_ERROR driverbyte=DRIVER_OK [163445.172345] sd 2:0:0:0:

New controller card issues
Running CentOS 5 (long story, will be updated some day). A 5 yr old Dell PE R415. Whoever spec'd the order, they got the cheapest, embedded controller. Push came to shove - these things gag on a drive > 2TB. So, we bought some PERC H200's for it, and its two mates. This morning, I brought the system down, and put in the card, and moved the SATA cables. This did not end well. The new

Bug#603727: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64: i386 Dom0 crashes after doing some I/O on local storage (software Raid1 on SAS-drives with mpt2sas driver)
...After degrading the raid down to 1 harddrive, I can't trigger this bug. Writing over a lvm which is striped over these 3 Harddrives doesn't crash also. Possibly "one dd" didn't do enough I/O to trigger this bug in these situations. So I think this is a problem of either the mpt2sas-driver which is relatively new in the kernel or a combination of raid1 and this driver. and appears only running with a HV in front of the kernel. System is Dell Poweredge R710 2x Xeon X5650 96GB RAM Perc H200 3 SAS-Harddrives (Linux-Software Raid1 over some partitons) I attach kernel, and xen...

Slow RAID Check/high %iowait during check after updgrade from CentOS 6.5 -> CentOS 7.2
The HBA is an HP H220. We haven?t really benchmarked individual drives ? all 12 drives are utilized in one RAID-10 array, I?m unsure how we would test individual drives without breaking the array. Trying ?hdparm -tT /dev/sda? now ? it?s been running for 25 minutes so far? Kelly On 2016-05-25, 2:12 PM, "centos-bounces at centos.org on behalf of Dennis Jacobfeuerborn"

The systems sees not those disks. Will this just not work, with the HBA, or is there a driver that will let the what, mpt2SAS driver see the eSATA drives? mark

LiveCD will not boot on Dell R310

Selecting one of the Debian kernels displays the message "i8042.c: no controller found" and then after a long pause displays the same Boot failure screen. The CD is connected via SATA and the RAID controller is an H200 which uses the mpt2sas driver support for which was not introduced until kernel 2.6.30 but the LiveCD is trying to boot 2.6.26. Is there an update to the LiveCD with more recent kernels? _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-...
