Tyan K8SRE troubles with CentOS 4.4 i386
We have been seeing failures with CentOS 4.4 i386 (not x86_64) running compute-intensive programs on Tyan K8SRE (S2891) Tymotherboards, running Opteron 265's. This motherboard is used in the Tyan barebones box GT24 (B2881). We have these boards populated with 8GB of RAM, consisting of mixed 2GB and 1GB sticks. The symptom is that CPU-bound programs (may or may not be related to floating

[Bug 73274] New: NV44A (PCI) 3D screensaver CACHE_ERROR
...11) Component: Driver/nouveau Product: xorg Created attachment 91478 --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=91478&action=edit dmesg output with bubble3d running ~16 hours (with one interruption) Computer failed second-stage burn-in testing. Was able to run mprime with blended tests overnight. Running the 3D screensaver (initially pinion) with mprime doing "in place FFTs" (loads CPU, cache, little memory): caused X to crash. Lightdm restarted it automatically, but I had no mouse pointer. I then upgraded all of the relevant software to newer versio...

forcing a zero level in contr.sum
I need to use contr.sum and observe that some levels are not statistically different from the overall mean of zero. What is the proper way of forcing the zero estimate? It seems the column corresponding to that level should become a column of zeros. Is there a way to achieve that without me constructing the design matrix? Thank you. pxelinux menu questions
Hello all, I have a few questions about the menuing system that I haven't been able to find in the archives (it would be nice if they were available in a searchable form other than having to click on a month-by month basis and read through them - if they are searchable I would love to find a way to do this but it hasn't jumped out at me). My first question is : What is menu.c32? I

samba freezes the server
...ensuse 11.1 though this thing happened on an ubuntu intrepid with 3.2.4 too: the smbd freezes the whole system here.....for no obvious reason i already tested everything, and everything works perfectly, untill 2 or more people want to work with it... - hardware is ok (18h stress test with bonnie, mprime, glxgears, memtester) - samba basically seems ok too (8 hours of running a script copying 500 mb to a share, deleting them again and restarting the procedure. this has been done with 400 loops on 3 clients simultanously and everything was functioning very well.) Logging in and out, reaching the sh...

I am using the following simple menu and have noticed that items at the bottom are dropping off. I seem to be limited to 12 items. I migrated the disks to a more powerful server due to load. It's a new server, and has been stress tested with memtest86, mprime, and passmark's Linux test for more than 24 hours without producing a problem. how can I stress a server?
Hi all, I have a server, with an Intel DG35EC motherboard, Q9300 CPU, 8GB Kingston DDRII RAM which can't take a lot of load. I have 4 XEN VPS's on there, which doesn't consume more than 4GBM RAM at this stage. Yet, the machine sky rockets at some times. I've moved the XEN VPS's to another server, with 4GM RAM, and it doesn't cause the same problems. So, apart from

Long tar -x: Box Shuts Down
My Centos 5.2 box shuts itself down during a long tar -x. There is plenty of disk available. This is new; it worked in the past. Any suggestions? Thanks, Mike.

Power burn test
I need a program that will just run everything at max so I can measure the max power used on some systems. My 'Kill a Watt' meter should show up early next week. SO run that CPU at max, using all memory, and keeping the harddrive spinning. I can jsut do pings on the lan card for it to stay awake. I have searched here and on the net and have come back with nothing.
