MPlayer now supports FLAC
Hello,
Just want to tell, that CVS version of MPlayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu)
now supports FLAC decoding.
Decoding can be done via external libFLAC or via improted files
(We have imported some files from libFLAC (stream_decoder) and
plugin_common(dither/replay_gain)).
Currently it doesn't support decoding FLAC embedded into Ogg container.

How to properly install VLC?
Hi all,
My colleagues and friends from time to time send me .wmv files and I'd
like to be able to view them under CentOS.
VLC was recommended to me, and AFAIR about a half year ago I tried
installing it. I don't remember the exact details, but I do remember
that the Red Hat and Fedora binary distributions didn't work without
giving all sorts of errors. I _think_ I then did a

A script to convert existing video files to Ogg
...Ogg
Theora, I've made the encoder_example binary available as an RPM package
(compiled under SUSE 9.1), together with an easy-to-use script with
which to convert videos to Ogg format. The RPM requires libogg,
libtheora and libvorbis installed, and the script (2ogg.sh) needs
MPlayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/) and encoder_example. I put the
2ogg.sh under GPL just in case someone wants to do something with it.
They're available at my home page at:
http://www.iki.fi/~tjyrinki/proj_info.html#convtheora
I haven't programmed much with the shell scripts, but I tried to do some
proper parsing of...

FFMPEG2THEORA 0.26 / BIG Theora testing / BUG in players or Lib
I tested the new FFMPEG2THEORA 0.26 and some players.
1. Biggest bug:
http://freefile.kristopherw.us/uploads/temp/push5tru.zi7
encodes into
http://freefile.kristopherw.us/uploads/temp/push5tru.ogv
the problem: it doesn't play well. MPLAYER reacts very badly, reports
"invalid frames" and HANGS (known issue ???). But in VLC there is also
a problem, less severe:
