mpath2.sh script works - sort of
Greetings all,
While I haven''t given up on getting a dead gateway detection script a la
nano.txt to work on my T1/DSL router box, I have taken a break and played with
the mpath2.sh script that Robert Kurjata wrote back in 2001.
This shows more promise in that I can actually get it to work - is it
foolish to try and use this script for this purpose? Here''s my setup:
My router is a Debian box with a custom 2.4.31 kernel with Julian''s

dm-multipath use
Are folks in the Centos community succesfully using device-mapper-multipath?
I am looking to deploy it for error handling on our iSCSI setup but there
seems to be little traffic about this package on the Centos forums, as far
as I can tell, and there seems to be a number of small issues based on my
reading the dm-multipath developer lists and related resources.

multiple links and nat
Hi, this might be a dumb question, but I''m not finding much
information online.
I''m trying to setup a 2.6 linux box to run nat across multiple
upstream links as a simple way to aggregate bandwidth. I found the
instructions in lartc section 4.2
(http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.rpdb.multiple-links.html) fairly clear
and straightforward. I implemented those, and a couple of trivial

Load Balance simply doesn´t work...
i´ve been searching for a load balance solution since a month
ago... what i can say is that it simply doesn´t work. I was
unable to find one guy that did it with sucess. When "load
balance" is the subject of the message on the list, the
message is simply ignored.
So... if it doesn´t work... why LARTC don´t delete it from the

Dead Gateway Detection with PPPoE

iptables depending on the interface like so,
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s $NATNET -o ppp0 -j SNAT --to $DSL
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s $NATNET -o eth2 -j SNAT --to $WRL
I made sure to include the stateful iptables statements as they appear
in nano.txt.
I worked extensively with mpath2.sh and have since cobbled together a
script a la nano.txt, with the associated ping script to test routes by pinging
each of the two gateways every 60 seconds.
When initially running the script it sets up the tables just the way one
would expect and everything works great. Clients are happy and...

Multihop route - TCP connection losses?
Hi!
In our students'' hostel we have 6 DSL lines (dialups to different
providers); we have set up a linux box (currently running 2.6.11-rc2-mm2,
but the problem described hereafter also applies to previous 2.6-series
kernels) with help from

Our Setup looks like this:

Finally: A working case of two adsl load balance
First of all i wanna thanks Christoph Simon for the support.
Only after his reply to my email i could see the real solution to
the problem (Valeu mesmo cara... me ajudou pra caramba!
Fico te devendo essa!) :)
Here is what i learned in a month of research:
I tried A LOT of things to do load balance, including the one at
LARTC homepage. The only tutorial that REALLY works in my
case is the

Multi-path routing only using last nexthop in default route.
I''ve applied julian''s paches to a 2.6.14 gentoo kernel with the appropiate
options enabled, and i''m using a modified version of the mpath2.sh script
also available on julian''s site http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/
Overall everything works nearly perfectly. Incomming connections to either
the fios (PPPoE) connection, or cable modem get routed back out correctly.
The problem I''m having is with the default gateway.

servers blocked on ocfs2
Hi,
we have recently started to use ocfs2 on some RHEL 5.5 servers (ocfs2-1.4.7)
Some days ago, two servers sharing an ocfs2 filesystem, and with quite
virtual services, stalled, in what it seems on ocfs2 issue. This are the
lines in their messages files:
