movie3d in rgl object 'movie' not found
Hello, I am trying to save a .gif movie using movie3d from the package {rgl}. I am using the following code combined with the globe example on the ?movie3d page. I've installed ImageMagick and the directory seems to be working properly, i.e. when I do Sys.getenv("PATH"), C:\\Program Files (x86)\\ImageMagick-6.7.0-Q16 shows up. #### l...

ImageMagick not seen by movie3d function from rgl package
Hello R-users, I have downloaded and installed a binary version for Windows OS of ImageMagick (ImageMagick6.5.6-10-q16-windows-dll.exe), I have installed the rgl package and i've tried running the following example from ?movie3d() library(rgl) open3d() plot3d( cube3d(col="green") ) M <- par3d("userMatrix") play3d( par3dinterp( userMatrix=list(M, rotate3d(M, pi/2, 1, 0, 0), rotate3d(M, pi/2, 0, 1, 0) ) ), durati...

movie3d function in the rgl package
Dear list, I'm using the function "movie3d" in the package "rgl" to create a .gif animation of a 3d graphic. The program "ImageMagik" is working properly, R packages are working, basic examples available in the manual also working fine. Problem Solved: when I tried to create more complex movies, i.e. combining dif...

convert command not found in movie3d (rgl package) in Mac OS X
Dear list, I gave up trying to fix my movie3d (rgl library) issue in my PC (completely black gif/png file) and went ahead and installed MacPorts and ImageMagick onto my iMac (OSX ver 10.6.8). I think ImageMagick is successfully installed in its default location (under /opt/local), and I ran movie3d but I get the following error: Error in syst...

Can a dynamic graphic produced by rgl be saved?
Dear r-helpers, Can one save a dynamic graphic produced by rgl, e.g.: open3d(); x <- sort(rnorm(1000)); y <- rnorm(1000); z <- rnorm(1000) + atan2(x,y); plot3d(x, y, z, col=rainbow(1000), size=2) as a dynamic figure that can be embedded in a pdf? _____________________________ Professor Michael Kubovy University of Virginia Department of Psychology USPS: P.O.Box 400400

Playing with rgl: a Youtube video
...ed a demo made with the rgl package to Youtube, visible here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prdZWQD7L5c For future reference, here are the steps I used: 1. Design a shape to be displayed, and then play with the animation functions to make it change over time. Use play3d to do it live in R, movie3d to write the individual frames of the movie to .png files. 2. Use the ffmpeg package (not an R package, a separate project at http://ffmpeg.org) to convert the .png files to an .mp4 file. The individual frames totalled about 1 GB; the compressed movie is about 45 MB. 3. Upload to Youtube....

Transform plot3d grafics in to executable files
Hello, I did some nice grafics using plot 3d and scatter3d. Is there a, hopefully not too complicated way, to transform these dynamic, three-dimensional and interactive grafics in a kind of executable file? I want to show and send them via e-mail to projekt partners who don`t use GNU R and who are not used to do programming. So the result should be quite comfortable to execute for them in

rgl: insert pauses in animation sequence / movie formats other than gif?
...y repeating each twice, play3d( par3dinterp( userMatrix=list(M1, M1, M2, M2, M3, M3, M4, M4, M5, M5)), ,duration=2*60/5) ) but that didn't give the desired effect. I see that play3d() has a times= argument, but the documentation doesn't indicate how to use it in this context. 2. With movie3d(), I can get an animated .gif, but I wonder if there are other movie formats (.mov, .mpg) I can get, either with convert, or an external tool, e.g., so I can embed a movie in a LaTeX -> .pdf document using the movie15 package. e.g., I tried using convert at in a command prompt window, >...

3d interactive video using the rgl package
...y web browser. In R, I have created another scene that includes a loop plotting the movements of the glider with the time. Is it possible to export that whole animation with the writeWebGL function? I've only managed to export the scene once all the points of my loop have been plotted, and the movie3d() function is not really a good option for me as I would like to be able to interact with my 3d animation in my web browser. Thanks in anticipation for your help. Xavier ######################################################################################## Dr. Xavier Hoenner eMII Project Off...

3D-scatterplots - high quality rendering?
I have just started using the package 'rgl' to explore my data as a 3D scatterplot. It's a great tool. But I would like to be able to save some graph views and it appears the only format available is 'png' and it doesn't look that nice. It is excellent to work with on screen and explore/play, but when it comes to producing a good quality graphic I'm a bit

Help with rgl
Hi, I don't know much about the RGL package, and I have read the documentation and tried some parameters, with no luck... I would like to generate a movie from a 3D object (code below), where the vortex A is closer to the observer, and then the object rotates and the B vortex gets closer. I would like to capture this movie to a file. By the way, I am not being able to insert unicode text

persp3d and rgl.viewpoint for rotating 3D plots
Dear R-users, within the rgl-package, I would have a question about the usage of persp3d in combination of rgl.viewpoint. I am not able to figure out how to let a 3D plot rotating around likewise the example in ?rgl.viewpoint. It seems that when I use persp3d(...) I see something on my screen, which is different from what I get when it's rotating. Is there any different behavior between

Animated gif or something similar in R?
I'm have a (minor) problem and a question. Problem: The following code creates 5 clusters of dots of different colors. However, I need the second call outside the data.frame call to get the colors to change for some reason. I assume there's an error in the data.frame() call, but I don't know what. Question: Is there is a way to cause the resulting graphic to rotate on it's

Exporting objects plotted with plot3d() - rgl package
Dear all, Can anybody tell me how to export a 3d figure made with the plot3d function? I'm careless about whether it's still interactive or not in another format, as long I can get it out of R.
