Key exchange/selection badly broken in SNAP1014?
Hello all, It seems the overhaul on key exchange/selection broke it badly. I haven't managed to use any other encryption method than 3des and blowfish when connecting to SNAP -> SNAP. SNAP -> 2.2.0p1 will use arcfour etc. quite cleanly. How SNAP -> SNAP looks like: --- debug: Local version string SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_2.2.0p2 debug: send KEXINIT debug: done debug: wait KEXINIT debug:

zfs send hangs
...ut halfway through and is unkillable, freezing all IO to the filesystem, requiring a hard reboot. I have attempted this three times and failed every time. On the destination server I use: nc -l -p 8023 | zfs receive -vd sas On the source server I use: zfs send -vR promise1/rbackup at daily.1 | nc mothra 8023 The filesystems on both servers are the same (zfs version 3). The source zpool is version 22 (build 129), and the destination server is version 14 (build 111b). Rsync does not have this problem and performs extremely well. However, it will not transfer snapshots. Two other send/receives (234...

RHL OpenSSH upgrade: _new_ sshd is not started
Hello all, A few days ago I noticed that the following seems to happen when upgradign OpenSSH on Linux-based (/etc/rc.d/init.d/sshd) based systems: - sshd is restarted with 'sshd restart'; however sshd serving in port 22 is not replaced. - you have to kill the old one (netstat -ltp | grep :ssh ; kill ...) first, then restart sshd. - This might happen only when performing the upgrade

Selectively allowing port forwards
Hi! The current version of sshd allows to restrict keys to issue only specific commands. However, port forwarding can only be forbidden entirely. Given the following situation: A client C uses S as a POP3 server. We want to poll E-Mail via POP3 from S to A via an ssh tunnel without being asked for a password. Thus, we create a passphrase-less key pair on A, transmit the public key to S and

Does OpenSSH 3.x support KRB5 directly?
Just curious. There seems to be an awful lot in the source, but no actual configure option. Please advise. -- Austin Gonyou Systems Architect, CCNA Coremetrics, Inc. Performance (?) problem with Samba and NT
I've seen this question asked on the list, but never answered. I've tried searching the archives, etc., but don't find anything relevant. I have a network with several Win95 and 98 client machines and one NT4 machine (NT Workstation, not Server). It's currently using Novell, but I've been testing a Samba server as a replacement. The 95 and 98 clients work fine. When I

New Program: Abacus Sentry - Port Scan Detector
Hello, I just made available a beta version of a port scan detector that I''ve been working on. The program, called Abacus Sentry, is a port scan/probe detector that offers what I think are a number of unique and useful features: - Runs on TCP or UDP sockets. Configurable by the user to bind to multiples of sockets for increased detection coverage. - Adjustable scan detection value with
