CentOS 4 and Intel D965 motherboards
Does anyone have information on support for Intel D965-based motherboards for CentOS 4 (i386)? I've got a DG965RYCK that fails a CentOS 4.4 install early on (problems scanning the PCI bus). Fedora Core 6 installs just fine. If anyone has any information, or magic boot parameters to try, please let me know. ("Works for me" is OK too). Thanks much. D...

Motherboard capable of VT-d
...VT-d. I''ve found two boards that would fulfill my requirements; Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5, Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4 According to the VTdHowTo (http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/VTdHowTo) X48 chipset supports VT-d. But not all manufactures have enabled it. Does anyone know if VT-d is enabled for the motherboards above (or any other motherboard that would support my requirements)? /Andreas _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

Motherboard recommendations
I have been building my systems with Abit IS-10 motherboards, but NewEgg has stopped carrying them, so I need to switch to something new. Does anyone have any recommendations on a solid motherboard that works well with CentOS? I need a motherboard with built-in video, LAN, and SATA. I don't need RAID or any other fancy features, just something cheap a...

Gigabyte motherboards and Syslinux
I read the mailing list archive about Gigabyte motherboards not working with USB booting ("[syslinux] Gigabyte recent bios & syslinux extlinux trow USB-IDE bridges or pendrives", 16 Aug 2006). I have a Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H motherboard that I tried to boot in USB-HDD mode with a PNY boot pen. I installed System Rescue CD on it. It wou...

Identify motherboard from SSH login
Hi, I have CentOS 4.4 installed on a system at an ISP and I am trying to setup lm_sensors. It would be a lot easier to setup if I knew what motherboard I was using! :-) Is there any way of identifying the motherboard of a system remotely (via SSH)? Many thanks Regards, Dan

How to select a motherboard
Not being familiar with chip sets and other factors that "hardware experts" understand, I am perplexed with the multitude of available motherboards. Is there a Web site that can be of help or a "strategy"? My goal is to replace my motherboard with one that is Centos compatible and uses a Pentium 4 in the 2 MHz range. As example, when I go to Mwave, I am presented with this list, but I really do not know what I should be looking...

What motherboard to use?
Hi list, I run several linux-hosts under Xen, but on my computer at home I''d like to get Windows running too as I need it once in a while.. I have an AMD X2 CPU and plenty of RAM running on an ABIT kn9 SLI motherboard. I can''t seem to find any info about support for AMD-V on this motherboard, so I guess I need a new one... Selecting a compatible motherboard
One of my servers is not compatible with Centos 4, so I want to replace the motherboard with a compatible one. I came across this site and would appreciate any comments on whether I can rely on selecting a board that is listed as compatible with Unix? http://www.dealtime.com/xPP-motherboards--asustek~V-rows For instance, the ASUS P5P800 Motherboard? Suggested Motherboard for TE410P
Hi all, I'm looking for a new system which will use the TE410P. Originally I was going to use a dual Athlon MP system, but my supplier tells me these are being phased out now, and so will be difficult to find replacement parts later. So, I am looking for suggestions of suitable motherboards with 3.3V PCI slots for the following CPU types (in order of my personal preference) AMD Opteron 1xx Series AMD Athlon 64 Intel whatever... I don't really know the Intel range, since I don't like them much and never use them, but it looks like I might be running out of options. Overall, I...

FreeBSD STABLE support for new motherboards
...CH5/ICH5R support chips now showing up in recent motherboard designs. The 865PE/875P chips are called MCH (memory controller hub) or "northbridge" chips. The ICH5/ICH5R chips are called ICH (i/o controller hub) or "southbridge" chips. The 865PE/875P chips are used on most new motherboards that support the new "hyperthreaded" P4 cpus with "800 MHz" front side busses. The 865PE is an 875P with some features disabled. The ICH5R is an ICH5 with some limited raid support for its serial ATA ports (allegedly only Windows XP has a driver for this feature). I recently o...

Finally cracked the mystery of motherboards with Vt-d support
After contacting Asus, MSI and Gigabyte, this is what I got back. Only motherboards with the QXX chipsets and certified with the Intel VPro support the Vt-d virtualization technology. I''m not sure about MSI though, because this is what I got from their support: "Almost board could support. Please refer to our website, http://www.msi.com/product/mb/." The pr...

motherboard for cents 6.3
Seems like overnight every motherboard that worked with linux has DROPPED off the face of the earth. Every motherboard I looked at is using the realtek 8111 chipset and a northbridge that is not supported. Example: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3, does not work with linux I tried disabling the onboard NIC and using a PCI-E intel card I always use and that would not work either. The north or south bridge

What do you think about this motherboard?
Hello all..... I would like to know if anyone here has had good experience with this Supermicro motherboard.....http://supermicro.com/products/motherboard/P4/E7221/P8SCT.cfm I am thinking about using it in an entry level mail and file server with a 3ware card and 200 GB SATA drives. Cost is a factor here otherwise I would go for an Opteron board instead. JC

Centos for entry level server : Motherboard?
I've been burned by Sata not working on an Asus motherboard (nVidia / nForce) and need to select something that will work for a fairly light duty web/mail/sql server. How do I go about finding out if a specific motherboard will work with sata software raid and Centos 4.4 (or 5.x when it's settled down). motherboard for T100P
anyone have a recommendation for a place I can buy cheap motherboards that supports those 64-bit 3.3 volt PCI slots for the T100P ? I can't find them at Fry's or anywhere locally. All I can find online is dual processor server boards that are overkill for this application. I would like to use a P3/ P4/ AMD single processor. No Xeons or dual processor j...

Need a recommendation on a good motherboard/processor combination
I need a recommendation on a good motherboard/processor combination. I would like a motherboard that has lots of PCI slots and works well with Asterisk without problems getting drivers working, etc. Onboard LAN would be nice to keep from using a slot. Plan to use RedHat 8 for the OS. Please provide your input as soon as possible. I need to build a demo box with 2 ports FXO and use the new
