Rails keeps adding the letter s to the MySQL tablename.
...not softlics. I''ve been at this for a day and a half and am about to toss something across the room. :-) I am totally stumped here. I even thought maybe it was a bug issue with 1.8.4-17 so I downgraded to 1.8.2-15. Does anybody know what my problem might be? Am I missing some small morsel of info here? My new project is pretty much a mirror image of the cookbook example with the exception of filename changes and different fields in the DB. Help! :-) Thank You. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Iterative Solver [Converting Matlab's solve()]
...1-(1-2/z)^y') my.solution.real = solution(y-1,y) % bottom line displays non-imaginary solution (last element) Obviously, I'm deeply unqualified as a mathematician or programmer and regret wasting your time if this question is really basic. I would very much appreciate even the smallest morsel of time that you might spend on this, and yes, you could be my hero. Many Thanks, Boris P.S. The above equation is from: Paxman GJ (1963). Maximum likelihood estimation of the number of self-sterility alleles in a population. Genetics 48: 1029-1032.

Warning - Naive Question Alert
In my research area, researchers are very stingy about sharing data. In fact, they are frequently downright secretive about these morsels. Typically, we get fed a diet of summary statistics and the assurance that the data are *normal* without any necessary documentation that they really are. With that as background and assuming that the data really are normal, is there any way in R (or any of the S engines) to generate a data s...

SSH key exchange algorithm negotiation payload growth
Howdy- TL;DR An SSH daemon for a memory-constrained embedded platform didn't work with a recent OpenSSH client because it couldn't handle the payload size during key exchange. In general, what should SSH implementors in such limited environments do to ensure forwards compatibility with future OpenSSH releases? I am unable to SSH to any of my HP servers' iLO2 interfaces using

Types of apps to use Rails for?
I am a web developer using PHP and very limited JavaScript. I keep hearing about RoR and am interested in learning it, but before I make the jump I''d like to hear about the types of applications I should be using it for. On all the tutorials you see big apps like stores, social networking, shopping carts, etc. I don''t have any immediate plans to be building something that

The best motherboard for a home ZFS fileserver
I''m a fan of ZFS since I''ve read about it last year. Now I''m on the way to build a home fileserver and I''m thinking to go with Opensolaris and eventually ZFS!! Apart from the other components, the main problem is to choose the motherboard. The offer is incredibly high and I''m lost. Minimum requisites should be: - working well with Open Solaris ;-) -
