rsync not saving files on windows 2000
I am trying to setup a windows 2000 server with rsync and cygwin. I think I
almost have it working except that when the file copy is finished my files
are nowhere to be found on the windows server. I am not getting any error
messages. I am connecting from a win98 machine on the same network. Any ideas
on how I can get this working or get more info to debug. Thanks.

Do I need a dummy?
...y more. I''m not
sure I can see how to setup a bridge without either specifying one or
it defaulting to eth0. So, do I need a dummy? And if not how do I
set up the bridge without?
Cheers,
Jock

Comparison of two time series using R
...series using a 3 week lag - it is about 0.55.
OK as far as it goes, but these results only obliquely shed light on the
question we want to answer: "Can lab RSV isolate counts be used to
predict the hospital bronchiolitis case-load a few weeks hence, and if
so, how reliably?"
Stephen Morrell [Morrell S. Times Series (Box-Jenkins) Analysis. In:
Kerr C, Taylor R, Heard G. /Handbook of Public Health Methods, /McGraw
Hill, Sydney, 1998.] suggests the following approach (direct quote
observing fair-use copyright provisions follows):

Silently drop ping?
Sorry if I missed the answer in the docs but how can I drop ICMP
silently? Seems that a several IPs in my ISP block suddenly decided to
start ping''ing me and I rather not have my logs fill up with all the
drop messages.
Thanks,
Mike

Any reference to Tukeyline algorithm?
Hi,
I am using "line" function to plot the line. And I would like to understand "Tukeyline" algorithm. Since, the line function is calling the Tukeyline algorithm(which is compiled code) using foreign function interface, I am not able to look into the source code of this algorithm. Can somebody help me out, so that I can refer the same.
Thanks in advance!!!
Thanks,

managing unix services remotely from mmc on windows
Hello List!
May I humbly submit my apologies if this has been done to death already and if
so, please consider this a feature request for a *searchable* mailing list
archive ;)
I'm loving the idea of being able to use one of my windows servers to start
and stop the *nix services via the computer management console. Makes life
easier for the less *nix savvy members of my team.

Ideas for Shorewall 2.0
I''m beginning to think again about what will be different in 2.0. Here
are some thoughts.
a) User-defined actions will be emphasized.
- A library of actions will be available with names such as:
AcceptSSH
AcceptDNS
DropWindows (drops all SMB noise)
DropBroadcasts (Silently drop all Broadcast traffic)
...
The possibilities are nearly endless but should

Please Help
I've downloaded the binary Samba 2.0.7 for AIX. I have no idea how to install this critter. Can anyone walk me thru this step by step? I think once i have
it running, I'll be able to configure it based on the info at samba.org. It's just getting it running that troubles me. I have some experience with *nix, but
not with compliling (sorry, no C compliler on system) and installing
