good progress on pci vga passthrough in xen-3.4-rc1
Platform : Nehalem, official Intel x58 with Core i7 920 (dx58so)

Secondary: Nvidia 8800 GTS PCI Express
Yes, I binned the ASUS P6T due to bad VT-d support in the BIOS.
With the latest BIOS from Intel, the dx58so has enable/disable for VT-d, ICH FLR and Interrupt Mapping! Helped a lot with getting this working ...

Moore-Penrose Generalized determinant?
Is there a function in R to calculate the generalized determinant of a
singular matrix? - similar to the ginv() used to compute the generalized
inverse.
I can't seem to find any R related posts at all.
Thanks in advance,

multiple graphs
Dear all,
I would like to plot multiple graphs in the same window. For this I
used:
par(mfcol=c(5,2) )
and then I use plot(x,y) to fill the cells of the window with the
graphs.
This results in multiple graphs with a lot of space around each graph.
But I would like the 5 graphs in each column to be 'connected' (i.e., no
space around them) and to specify values and label on

Can I get RubyOnRails to read and parse an html file off harddrive?
I do this in ASP to read a special html template that I use, then modify in
code before spitting out the resulting webpage.
Any ideas on how to script this in RUBY? Do I need a special GEM package?

[Ferret] Test failures for ferret tagged REL-0.10.14
Hi Dave,
I''ve been getting some segment faults while running my tests using
0.10.14 gem so I decided to package the gem locally to add -dH and
generate core dumps for you.
So I followed instructions here
http://ferret.davebalmain.com/trac/wiki/DownloadCurrent and first off
ran the tests.
I''m getting the following failures. (see this pastie

[Asterisk-Dev] Cluecon - Who's going ?
I'm relatively new to Asterisk and I'm hoping attending Cluecon will be
a good way to get up to speed on the project and hear about what others
are doing with it.
We currently use a Cisco IP phone system at my office, although I just
added an asterisk box to provide soft phones to our travelling users.
(IAX2 is a lot easier to get through firewalls than cisco's protocols).

Beyond multiple return values
First off, I love mocha and have been using it all over the place
ever since I found it a few months ago.
So I noticed the other day rather belatedly that mocha-0.4.0 had been
released and that we can now do the object.stubs(:method).returns
(:first_value, :second_value). Much neater than fiddling with lambdas
everytime this sort of behaviour is needed
But can we go further ? I was

Possible solutions to txtdrive process killing for cpu usage
Hi,
I''ve just deployed a basic ecommerce site on textdrive.com. The
application has been stress tested on our local development machines and
appears to be running fine (no memory leaks).
However, on textdrive the fcgi processes are being killed after just a
few requests apparently because of cpu usage (The log says the processes
exceeds 17% average cpu usage in the last few minutes)

Newbie question about differences between XCP-1.0 and XEN 4
Can somebody educate me as the differences between XCP-1.0 and XEN 4.
From what I can see XCP-1.0 has XEN 3.4.2
So why would you not build XCP-1.0 with XEN 4.0

I can create a small dataset, "x" below, and subset out rows based on
values of a certain variable. However, on the dataset I'm working on now,

DateTime Math in R - POSIXct
Greetings -
I'm battling POSIXct, as per the code below. My input is actually an XL
file, but the weird results below correctly model what I am seeing in my
program.
Before I punt and use lubridate or timeDate, could anyone please help me
understand why POSIXct forces my variable back to GMT?
I suspect that I'm not properly coding the tzone value, but it does not

acts_as_ferret with conditions
Hello guys,
Having a slight problem with acts_as_ferret, specifically using a
condition. I have the following code
@results = SupplierProduct.find_by_contents(params
[:search], :conditions => [''area_id = ?'', @area])
and it seems the condition isn''t being applied. Does anyone have any
pointers?
Cheers,

PAM auth with disabled user
Is it intentional that password auth using PAM continues trying to log
on (giving password 3 prompts) in the case that a user is disabled (so
that pam_account returns an error code).
It can be argued both ways (saying 'you are disabled' is giving out too
much information, making it look like you are entering the wrong
password confuses and frustrates the user)

order of saving/validating
Hi guys,
I''m trying to do some validation on an image upload. Basically I have
a model, Property, which has_many :property_images. I need to check
that one image has been uploaded at least and so it was suggested I
checked the number of images uploaded -
@property.property_images.count > 0. Makes sense.
I''ve added a validation on my Property model, like -
