If you kill off your player then restart it, is it still there? A friend of mine experiences noise with ogg123 that gradually creeps in, though it's not as subtle as what you're

IceS with Perl segfault
I'm running Icecast 1.3.12 with IceS 0.2.3. I've run into a couple of issues with this new version of IceS. One I can get around, the other is causing me much frustration. With IceS 0.2.2 I had the server name in the ices.conf file set to localhost: <Server> <Hostname>localhost</Hostname> </Server> Worked fine for many months. When I upgraded to 0.2.3 I

Low frequency feedback?
I'm having a rather strange problem with what sounds like low frequency feedback in my stream. I've been running the stream for several months and this hasn't been happening until recently. YP not getting server info after upgrade
I just recently did an upgrade from Icecast 2.3.0 to 2.3.1 and at the same time realized I was still running Ices 2.0-Beta2 so I upgraded it to 2.0.1. Before the upgrade I was being listed in the Xiph directory just as expected... Now, I'm listed but, this is me: http://dir.xiph.org/index.php?sgenre=&stype=&search=unspecified+name You'll notice there's no data other than

Low frequency feedback?
Hey Geoff, thanks for the reply. I had a chance to listen to it for quite a while yesterday and I realized that it's not a constant problem. It starts out really soft, so soft that you wouldn't even notice it if you didn't know what to listen for. I have two types of songs playing at the moment, loud music (rock/punk) and very soft music (middle eastern style). It seems to always

Icecast2 Win32: any way to minimize on start orrunas a service?
You could always run this as a service using Microsoft's tools from the NT 3.5 Resource Kit. The two tools you need are srvany.exe and instsrv.exe. I've used this many times on Win2k with no problems. You can download the resource kit from Microsoft here: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/reskit/nt35/i386/i386.exe And there is an article about how to set it up here:
