Caldera was a _good_ company until May 2003 (2 months after the original lawsuit, prior to the addedum). Caldera bought SCO and was going to have a split Monterey/IA-64 and Linux/x86 solution. 20 days after the purchase, IBM pulled out of Monterey, yet started to sell their Monterey/Power platform (aka AIX 5L). IBM essentially _squashed_ a _good_ Linux company overnight because it wanted to be the _only_ dual-UNIX/Linux vendor. It saw Monterey/IA-64 (Unix...

But had it not been for the rabid response by the Linux community not to stop and recognize the original March 2003 filing was about Monterey -- something even Linus, ESR and many other people themselves explicitly called a "contract dispute" in countless media interviews -- SCO wouln't have been able to put up this Linux IP "smokescreen." So many people had made SCO v. IBM into SCO v. Linux -- calling for the en...

From: Johnny Hughes <mailing-lists at hughesjr.com> > IBM has since totally changed their thoughts with regards to GNU/Linux. Actually, their cut-off of Monterey had everything to do with their current change in strategy on Linux back in 2000+. Monterey was established before IBM's interest in GNU/Linux. After IBM realized that it could use an economical complement in Linux, it saw a Monterey/IA-64 version as a thread (this was before x86-64 establish...

Visualizing a dissimilarity matrix in Euclidean space
Hi, I have a set of nodes and a dissimilarity matrix for them, as well as a csv file in which the diss matrix has been converted to [node_1, node_2, dissimilarity] format. I would like to visualize this as a graph in Euclidean space (that is, similar nodes clumped together in clusters), rather than the seriation visualization given by dissplot(). I am using Network WorkBench for my
