I am 99% sure this is not a hardware issue. my first priority is getting the machine on its feet along with that partition, whose integrity i now question. Can I substitute ext2 for ext3 in fstab and mount it as ext2, after ext2 fscking it? If you have a monent to spare any insight on this late good Thursday you are doing me a great favor, and maybe I have found a legitimate bug here.
