statistical mode function
Hello R-users,
I am aware that this is a very basic question, but still... Since mode()
function is reserved for something else, is there a function to calculate
statistical mode for a vector or a matrxi?
i.e. mode.function(c(1,2,2,2,3,3))=2

image() colors

In output then graph for X would have green for 0 and yellow for 1, whereas
the graph for Y would be all green. Thus the two pictures cannot be
compared. Is there any way around this problem?

statistics for ragged arrays: loop to vector
...[i]:end.n[i]])
This works fine, but if I need the function to be calculated for each
cell of the field a couple of times for each MCMC iteration, the amount
of time which is used by the loop is too large. My question is: can this
loop be written in some vector form?

loading packages
...R code in: library(pkg, character.only
= TRUE)
although library(help=spweights) produces a window with the desired
information.
I cannot use 'install package from local zip.-file' because the packages
are in .tar.gz-format.
Please tell me what am I missing here?

partitioning a space

corner). Thus each cell in the middle of the grid has four neighbors.
Is there by any chance a ready package or function which does it in R? The
packages I found so far are for point processes. Also can anybody propose a
good algorithm for doing this?
