CentOS 5: rsyncd log problem
.../pub/mirrors/centos comment = CentOS mirror My problem is that nothing gets logged into /var/log/rsyncd.log, all logging occurs into /var/log/messages instead. There's no error message that /var/log/rsyncd.log (the file doesn't exist) can't be opened. What have I done wrong? Centos 5.1, mythtv, saa7134_dvb?
I'm trying to set up my Centos 5.1 box at home to run mythtv. The DVB-T card requires saa7134 and saa7134_dvb. These are not in the Centos kernels. Centosplus has saa7134, but not saa7134_dvb. Do I have to compile the kernel myself, or is there a trick? Mount USB disk at startup?
...ter ctrl-D it reboots, and gives the above error again. I have to log in as root, remount,rw / and remove the /dev/sdb1 line from /etc/fstab to get it to boot. The problem is not related to JFS; it occurs with an external ext3 file system as well. How do I mount /dev/sdb1 automatically at boot? We still need the new configuration settings for our conf file to workaround this problem. samba problem with kernel 2.6.32-279.*
...n. Going back to kernel-2.6.32-220.17.1 on the server fixes the problem. The problem exist with kernel-2.6.32-279, kernel-2.6.32-279.2.1, and kernel-2.6.32-279.5.1. Samba is version samba-3.5.10-125, the server is x86_64. Where should I look for a solution to that problem on the newer kernels? Mogens -- Mogens Kjaer, mk at lemo.dk http://www.lemo.dk

Slightly OT - Samba 3 and Windows DNS
Dear All Has any one had any success with getting a Linux box to register with a DNS server hosted on a Windows 2k3 server? This process takes place automatically on the Windows boxes but not at all on the Linux boxes. We run our Intranet/Web servers on Linux but the whole of the rest of our network is run on Windows. In the past we have used SAMBA to maintain WINS entries but would now like

File permission problems
Hi knowledgeable samba users, I had to upgrade from samba 2.2.0 on a suse linux server (7.2). Server died after two 2+ years of loyal services - otherwise I would not have changed... Now I have a samba 3.0.9-2.6 on suse 9.1. I can access the files only r-x, i.e. all files appear as read only. Trying to trouble shoot I have: - chmod-ed all the files of all the shares to 777 - in swat put the
