Compilation of kernel failed for CentOS 5
I downloaded the src rpm for CentOS 5 and tried to recompile it. It failed with the following message: + sh ./scripts/modsign/modsign.sh /var/tmp/kernel-2.6.18-8.el5-root /lib/modules/2.6.18-8.el5PAE/kernel/drivers/char/watchdog/pcwd_pci.ko CentOS gpg: WARNING: unsafe permissions on homedir `..' + mv -f

Compiling kernel-2.6.13...
Hi. I'm trying to use CentOS4.2 for some audio work (ie. sound editing, etc.). I found a site called PlanetCCRMA (http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/) and decided that I would give some of their applications a try (hoping that it would not affect my system greatly!). At first I tried the Fedora 3 packages (and they do work), but what I really wanted to do is to download the

kernel-2.6.18-8.1.15
Hi, It seems to me, that kernel-2.6.18-8.1.15 is maybe not ok. I have been trying to rebuild my patched kernel RPMS in virtual machine running i686 kernel-2.6.18-8.1.15. It had failed for the three times with segmentation fault. First run under kernel-2.6.18-8.1.14 went smoothly. So, maybe it's a kernel issue or it's VMWare (Server 1.04). Anyone to reproduce the issue? Thanks, David

seqfault during kernel recompile...
I am using CentOS 5 with all updates installed. I have 2 isa ne2000 network cards in my computer. From running make xconfig both isa and ne2000 support needs to be compiled into the kernel instead of making them modules. Is this correct? During the recompile modsign.sh failed with a segfault. In researching, I found an email posted on Redhat that recommended setting the signmodules to 0 in

Kernel panic with virt-builder etc.
Hi there, I am trying to write an article on virt-builder and managed to compile version 1.24.1 of libguestfs on Ubuntu 13.10 (I had mixed success with the git version and 1.25.x). When I am running virt-builder I am getting an error message: virt-builder: error: virt-resize failed Upon further investigation it turns out that there's a kernel panic when booting the freshly created image.

Hi Rich, I did what you said, and it passed that point. But I had another error. Maybe is not related. no-amd-iommu-perdev-intremap + no-intremap = BOOM with Xen 4.4 (no-intremap by itself OK).
Hey I wanted to try my hand at doing some GPU passthrough so on my ASUS M5A97 which in the pass worked with an older BIOS (but said BIOS had issues after S3 suspend) - but with a BIOS the PCI passthrough does not work. That is due to:: (XEN) IVHD Error: Invalid IO-APIC 0xff (XEN) AMD-Vi: Error initialization
