Rsync lock-up
...ing folks thought this (or a similar issue) was fixed. Situation: (OS is RedHat 7.2, Rsync rpm 2.4.6-5 and 2.5.5-1 exhibit the same behaviour) rsync is copying on the same machine (local copy). The destination is NOT a sub-directory of anything that's being copied. I used xargs to give rsync a moderatly large number of files (603). It copies all the files, then locks up after the last copy. I can kill it with control-c. Rsync is being run from a perl script I wrote which first identifies the files to backup, then uses rsync to back them up (hence the large file name list). The interesting part...

Web-MeetMe ready for prime time?
...ions and release notes * The 3.X chain also has a very basic report generator. It is a little crude as I am learning GD-Lib as I go. The project is now hosted on SourceForge and while it has not seen a lot of updates recently, is still active. I have had the 2.1.0 release in production on three moderatly loaded production servers for close to one year. I am aware of a number of much larger installations, which I can only hope will share their experiences. Dan

Hardware Acelerating Encoding
Hi all, What does everyone think about using OpenCL to improve the performance of the encoder? This is particularly important for Live HD scenarios. Clearly off loading some of the work to the GPU would have a significant effect on the performance. Anyone got any suggestions of which part of the encoding process would benefit most form off loading to the GPU? Out of interest is the current

newbie: getting started with database, local computer, host
...create a database on my local machine, and create my rails app locally... will everything get synced with my webhost when i use capistrano? or do i need to log-in to the server and constantly be editing files and databases there? i''d rather work on my local machine, and then upload with (moderatly) stable builds of the site. so do i have to create the databases locally and on the host? also what happens to the data when I deploy with capistrano? Thanks, Keith -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message becau...

size limit in R?
...0.025 * 1450 / 0.025) Error: cannot allocate vector of size 3625000 Kb So, the problem is at least also in R, and I guess that it is even deeper, namely that your system does not support 3GB for one pointer. (My own supports about 1.8 GB, but I never met your problem, since my needs have been more moderat (0.1 GB)). I suggest to write to the R-help mailing list, mentioning the above problem. If solved then I can check RandomFields . Cheers, Martin j-simpson@northwestern.edu wrote: > Dear Dr. Schlather, > > Thank you for your quick reply. Please find below the error: > >> li...

What business IP phone to use
I have been struggling with this issue for about a year now. There were just too many IP phones to choose from at all sorts of price points and not enough information about any of them. Now I am looking at the situation again and if anything it has gotten worse. There are even more phones and all sorts of opinions. For every person that says phone x is great there is someone else complaining
