PCI modems
Hi all,
I'm currently searching for a PCI modem that will be used to receive faxes. I've tried out a few modems but they all use conexant chipsets, which need out-of-tree kernel drivers and currently doesn't work here (kernel oops when the installation script modprobes the driver).
Does anyone know of a PCI modem that works out of the box with in-tree kernel drivers?
Thanks,
Glenn

Analog modems behind an Asterisk server?
Hello, we would like to hook up analog modems behind an Asterisk server,
and we're very interested in the experiences that others have made when
attempting that. We assume that there are no inherent problems with
modems in respect to the Asterisk software, but it appears that the
FXO/FXS hardware restricts this kind of a setup to lower...

modem to modem calls through asterisk
Modem connect speeds on calls through * seem to be lower than calls
made through the telephone company lines or our old Rolm PBX. All data
calls have 2 wire analog modems on both ends.
For my set up I have channels of a Zhone channel bank tied to 2 modems.
The Zhone channel bank interfaces my * server with a T400P card.

USB modem on centos
I am playing with a USR (us robotics) USB modem model 5637.
in the past I used internal modems and had no issues.
One this unit I plugged it in, dmesg says its recogized.
I did "ln -s /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/ttyS4" this works.
I then did "cu -l /dev/ttyS4" type "AT" and I get OK... looking good.
When I "ATDT my number" I get a connection at 1200 baud (which...

Voice Modem + Soundcard Driver
The problem with using Voice Modems is that they fall into two categories:
1) Hardware Modems which only have half-duplex transmission of voice
2) Soft/Win/Lin modems which are proprietry and don't have asterisk drivers
Please shoot down this recipe before I waste any time trying to acheive it:

External Dial-up Modem
I am having an issue with Centos 6 and an external USRobotics modem. We
use the modem as part of a last resort SMS paging system.
Across multiple Dell servers, different models, I can't not get the
modem to respond to simple AT commands while using Minicom. At the same
time if I connect the server to a console port on a switch I can
successfully access the switches serial console. So I

Inquiry:External USB modem and Remote PC Access?
Dear All
Please be informed that I checked for the presence of internal modem on my
CentOS server , as the followings :
#dmesg |grep -i modem
#lspci |grep -i modem
#lshw |grep -i modem
According to the output , it seems that my CentOS client does not contain
internal modem . So I decided to add external USB modem and make use of an
PCAnyWhere like application that enables for Remote PC Access .

Modem Communications thru *
Happy New Year,
I have a project to pass modem calls through * convert
them from IP to X.25 and then allow the modems at each
end to talk thru the rtp stream to each other before
calling modem terminates the call.
Datamodem --- FXS(non *) ---- ADSL --- *

While the above occurs I also wish to capture the data

Using Modems with Asterisk
Has anyone had any experience using a modem through the Asterisk system?
I have some technical support personnel that need to use a computer
modem to connect to a remote system for troubleshooting. Is there a SIP
compliant gateway that will support a modem connection at decent speeds
(minimum of 28.8) that anyone knows of? If not, has anyone used a
Digium FXS card for this?
Thanks

Configure DAHDI with TDM410 for analog Modem calls
...the Asterisk box - ans so I am wondering,
what the optimal configuration setup might be?
Apparently the one pass over the TDM card is enough to kill any modem connection :(
Does anyone have a simmilar setup or maybe some ideas on how to configure DAHDI and Asterisk to better work with analog data modems?

LEC <--PRI--> * <--PRI--> modem bank (56k dialup modems)
The problem is that (even with no office lines active) the modems
have difficulty establishing a connection, the connection is slow
(way too slow for 56k modems) and the connections are prone to dropping.
We have tried the Dial 'd' and 'c' options, but they did not help.

Modem as PSTN interface?
Hi, all
Can a normal PCI modem be used to provide PSTN interface? I have seen modems that have answering machine capabilities, so there should not be a problem sending voice through them.
Certainly, modem will be cheaper option then dedicated cards. Am I missing something?
