Advanced Persistent Threats; Why aren't we confining Firefox and Evolution?
Moat of the advanced persistent threats (APT) are initiated via e-mail.
Opening an attachment or clicking on a web link starts the process.
Why isn't Firefox and Evolution confined with SELinux policy in a way
that APT can't damage the rest of the system? Why are we not sandboxing
these two apps with SELinux?
I've discovered some guidance for sandboxing Firefox using the

Automation of puppet configuration code
Hello,
I work for the CHTC (Center for High Throughput Computing) at the
University of Wisconsin, Madison. We utilize puppet for most of our
configuration management. Currently we have a web application that
performs the tasks of user account management. When a new user is
registered with the application, the application does some very limited
parsing of a puppet manifest that has

RPDB && routing locally generated (and marked) traffic
Hello all,
I''m using iproute2 + ipchains and have a question about locally generated
packets.
I have noticed that I have no problem marking packets in the input chain
from sources other than my router. These packets are marked and routed
exactly as I expect.
Now supposing I want to mark particular outbound packets which are locally
generated. The only solution I have found so far

OSX 10.9.2, samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu vs Microsoft Office 2011 and Read-Only files
Upgraded from samba 3.6.20 on gentoo to samba 4.1.6 on Ubuntu Trusty. Since the upgrade all attempts to open Microsoft Office files results in the file being opened Read-Only. Found multiple posts from multiple sites dealing with similar problems.

Re: Exchange Server in DMZ (i-hacked.com)
Hiya,
My two cents here .. I use a locked down Linux Sendmail relay (use sendmail
null-client feature on any spare old server or PC) in my DMZ to relay Mail
to the exchange server in my local zone. Its sort of the moat you have to
cross over to get at the castle walls and the hot oil dumped on your head
approach.
