Another 'newbie' question :)
...g read the notes I have tried to start MS Word using the following

(A line that ends with a \
is continued on the next line. _that_ particular backslash is just to
protect the example from being folded in the mail.)

That is what you told wine to run. "echo" is a handy way to see what
the shell will do with a given command line.
