How to detect fake CallerID? (8xx?)
...custom app could read the ID of the cell tower to which it was connected -- or even the phone's GPS co-ordinates -- and transmit that back to base over the Internet. Preferrably with some sort of precautions to make the request harder to forge (i.e., *not* just a plain HTTP GET with the MCC, MNC, LAC and CID in the query string). If your app makes its connection via the site's wi- fi (which will require the co-operation of the client) as opposed to the mobile network, so much the better, as there will be an IP address against which you can match. If you insist to use the site land...

The problem is that they are supposed to use the 'site landline' to confirm presence -- not their cell phone with the

Fedora and Samba
Hi. I am trying to get Samba 3.0.4, from tarball, working with Fedora Core 1. The problem is that I can't get LDAP authentication with either ssl or start_tls support. I tried compiling ldap on a plain install of fedora. I also tried compiling it after installing openssl-0.9.7d and openldap 2.2.11 clients and libraries from tarball. My ldap configuration of samba is as follows:

Unable to create channel of type 'Zap'
I've just installed an X100P, built the kernel module, and tried to use it to make an outgoing call (via a phone connected to an ATA-186). However, I just get a reorder tone and see this on the console: -- Executing Dial("SIP/ata1-4409", "Zap/1/5551212") in new stack NOTICE[1200825920]: File app_dial.c, Line 481 (dial_exec): Unable to create channel of type

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking

Timer ISR: Timer went backwards [NetBSD 3.1 / Xen 2.0.7]
I''m using a NetBSD 3.1 dom0 with Xen 2.0.7 (so far as I know, the latest supported combination for the NetBSD platform). Linux domUs have their logs fill with messages like this: May 8 02:01:39 debian kernel: Timer ISR: Time went backwards: -316000 131542680000000 9684000 131542690000000 May 8 02:01:39 debian kernel: Timer ISR: Time went backwards: -277000 131542680000000 9723000

Caller-ID questions and suggestions
1. It would be very helpful if the voicemail module included the caller-ID info (name and number) in the "Subject" line. Otherwise, looking at the list of messages is like looking at an INBOX without a "From" column. I patched app_voicemail.c quickly, but it would be even better if this were a configuration option (since some installations don't have caller-ID

Newbie: Getting demo to work via ATA-186
I've installed Asterisk and configured an ATA-186 as described at this link: http://www.djernes.org/~shawn/ata186.htm Unfortunately this guide abruptly ends before it explains how to deal with the sip.conf and extensions.conf files. So I left extensions.conf alone and my sip.conf looks like this: [general] port = 5060 ; Port to bind to bindaddr = 0.0.0.0
