for example : I have files with the name
"ma01.dat","ma02.dat","ma03.dat","ma04.dat",I want to read the data in
these files into one data.frame
flnm<-paste("obs",101:114,"_err.dat",sep="")
newdata<-read.table(flnm,skip=2)
data<-(flnm,skip=2)
but the data only contains data from the flnm[1]

Generation of uniform random numbers
Dear R helpers
I have following dataset
rate_number = matrix(c(5, 15, 60, 15, 5, 0, 20, 60, 20,0, 10, 20, 40, 20, 10), nrow = 5, ncol = 3)
range_mat = matrix(c(6.25, 6.75, 7.25, 8.75, 9.25, 9.75, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10.5, 11, 11.5, 4.25, 4.75, 5.25, 5.75, 6.25, 6.75), nrow = 6, ncol = 3)
> rate_number
[,1] [,2] [,3]

expand.grid game
Dear list,
In a little numbers game, I've hit a performance snag and I'm not sure
how to code this in C.
The game is the following: how many 8-digit numbers have the sum of
their digits equal to 17?
The brute-force answer could be:
maxi <- 9 # digits from 0 to 9
N <- 5 # 8 is too large
test <- 17 # for example's sake
sum(rowSums(do.call(expand.grid, c(list(1:maxi),
