[Flac-users] FLAC in the news
FYI,
Unless you've been checking the FLAC site you might have
missed some encouraging things that have happened in the
last few months. I haven't really been announcing things
in the lists along the way, but to summarize:
- Primus and Phish have been selling soundboard recordings
of shows in FLAC
- Magnatune (an indie label) offers their whole catalog in
FLAC and Vorbis now
- More

Muxing vorbis in WebM
Hi Vorbis-Dev,
I'm investigating various WebM/Vorbis bugs in chromium. AFAIK muxing Vorbis
inside of WebM does not have an official specification, so I'm using
ffmpeg's implementation to try to answer 2 questions:
1. Under what circumstances is it valid to find WebM Blocks containing
Vorbis data with zero duration? (This would mean the next Block in the
Cluster has the exact

...r sure, this required only minimal changes so the Ogg
splitter could recognize FLAC in Ogg and call the decoder in the
playback graph.
- there is a CoreFLAC encoder filter also, allowing to capture sound

- Mosu added FLAC muxing into matroska now in mkvmerge 0.7.7 , as well
as automatic chapter creation and title/artist tagging from CUE sheets,
so matroska with FLAC can be used to store a complete music album in a

Muxing a52/ac3 and Theora
Is there a program currently available that will correctly mux a52/ac3
streams and theora streams into an ogg container? I've tried
oggzmerge, and it will mux ac3 into ogm and correctly create a new ogm
from an existing theora file, but it doesn't seem to put the two
together correctly.

R128Gain question
Just a quick question to make sure my understanding is correct on something.
R128Gain is part of the opus standard and the information is part of the
stream itself, correct?
So if I use mkvmerge to take an opus stream from an ogg opus source and
stick it into a Matroska audio, I don't have to worry about replaygain
or r128gain tags because the opus stream itself will have the gain
information needed by an opus compliant decoder.
Is this assumption correct?
My particular scenario...

concatenate ogg/theora files
Hi,
I have multiple ogg/theora files, with different bitrate. That is the
big problem, because I want to broadcast them using ezstream/icecast and
the connection between ezstream and icecast is always lost when
switching between files. They have the same resolution but different
quality. Is there a tool to concatenate/normalize several files to a big
homogeneous one?

merging flac files
Hi!
I was hoping there was a tool which would let me do something like:
#flax -o existing.flac --append mytune.flac
To merge the 2 files!
Also; is it possible to change the velocity/gain of a flac track ? I
would love to know how!
Regards,
Frans

Re: seeking problems
Did you try OggFLAC and MkaFLAC as alternative containers ? For OggFLAC
you need libogg, the Xiph documentation should be describing how to seek
in the file. But i dont know if using another container than native FLAC
framing is an option for you .....
