trouble getting speex_echo_cancel() to work
...> work because the playback and capture need to be *exactly* in sync. I did a bit more testing, and ended up creating a set of testsamples, as follows: ideal.pcm => me saying "This is what I'd like to hear" junk.pcm => me saying "With a bit of luck, this is gone" mixdown.pcm => ideal.pcm, with junk.pcm started 7 ms later and 3 dB lower. (All of this as 8000 Hz, 16-bit signed) I then copied junk.pcm to play.sw, mixdown.pcm to mic.sw and ran testecho. The output sounds almost identical to the mixdown, and far from "ideal". As a 2nd test, I made play....

The problem with that is that it's nowhere near real conditions. It would be a lot better if you made a real recording for mixdown because then you would have a realistic echo function (with non-ideal freq response, reverber...

trouble getting speex_echo_cancel() to work
I'm trying to convert my current headphones and microphone chat application to support loudspeakers and microphone, and so I thought I'd give speex_echo_cancel() a try. Since my users quite frequently have other sound-producing applications running on their computer (such as winamp), I sample 'wave' recording device of the soundcard in addition to the microphone. I then call

void your warranty and get a 3.3V/5V TE405P
http://www.mixdown.ca/~asterisk/ The card seems to be working fine. Don't expect warranty on it though. :-) Why? Because I wanted a quad-span T1 card which worked in the high-end systems I was intending it for, but that I could also keep a few in stock and if the system mainboard failed, pull the card an p...

update: Win2kPro's TCP/IP Stack is crippled!
...The various shares have "use sendfile = yes" Initial testing shows that the Windows 2000 Server stack is almost _twice_ as fast as the Windows 2000 Pro stack. It's unbelievable that Microsoft would cripple their product this way. One of the test runs is available at http://www.mixdown.ca/~andrew/win2ks-win2kp.png. There are three transfers. Ignore the first. The second is an ~1.3GB transfer from Samba to Win2kServer, and the third is the same transfer but to Win2kPro. I have never been able to get Win2kPro to go faster than what is shown there. Any hints or tips or comme...

Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
...d use that one (Mixbus doesn't; in fact I'm not sure how it could be remotely exploited at all). So for certain things the 'bundled app' makes sense; for a server process it would not. Mixbus works very well on CentOS 7; I use it every week for longform broadcast production and mixdown, and just running the Harrison Consoles installer script 'Just Worked' as it was supposed to (if it doesn't the Mixbus devs get a message from me.....). Further, the official Ardour.org Ardour packages for Linux are similar bundles; at one time if you built it from source using the...

ADSL routers with integrated SIP QoS for other devices
Greetings list, Thanks to all who replied to my thread a few days ago "SIP devices with packet loss tolerance". One of the suggestions that came out of that thread was to replace routers at users' premises with ones that support QoS. I've used m0n0wall's QoS in the past with reasonable success, but it's quite a bulky and complex setup for deploying to remote sites which

QOS Device?
Here is the situation: A T1 router going into an office which then plugs into the firewall box then into the switch. None of these devices support QOS.. Is there some sort of box/device that I can place between the T1 router and the firewall box which will allow me to prioritize voice traffic on this link? I can't change the T1 router to something that supports QOS because it has

Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
I'm interested in trying out the new OpenShot beta (2.06) on CentOS 7. Openshot requires Python3. so I look at available packages where I find a bunchof python3 packages as well as python34 packages. I'm assuming that python34 is version 3.4 of python, while python3 is some other 3.x version. Can anyone here explain to me what are the differences, any compatibility across these

VoIP bad voice quality
Hi, We have Asterisk, running on a P4 box running Suse 9.1, making calls using IAX through SimpleTelecom and Nufone. What we are looking for is toll quality voice. The problem is that voice over calls routed through SimpleTelecom and nNufone occassionally breaks. We also have a digium card and the calls over the digium card using the Zaptel Interface have a very good quality. We

rxfax crashing asterisk and YES I'm using an approved libtiff :-)
I'm running asterisk CVS HEAD from 20040601 with spandsp 0.0.1k and libtiff 3.6.0 (no other copies are installed). I've put the audio files up at http://www.mixdown.ca/~andrew/dump/akohlsmith-faxsegfault.tgz -- the machine I am faxing from is a Canon IR3300 printer/copier/fax, but I get similar crashes from $29.95 fax machines too. :-) I'm trying to get a decent backtrace but my corefiles are always stripped. Fax is coming in on a POTS line to an Adit...
