Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??

I use a commercial professional multitrack audio mixing package called Mixbus (derived from Ardour, but with specialized DSP for the summing and for plugins; the portion derived from Ardour is open source, the DSP plugin code is closed source, and thanks to the plugin API is not a 'derived work' since it would be usable from any plugin host.....). This is the wa...

Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??
I'm interested in trying out the new OpenShot beta (2.06) on CentOS 7. Openshot requires Python3. so I look at available packages where I find a bunchof python3 packages as well as python34 packages. I'm assuming that python34 is version 3.4 of python, while python3 is some other 3.x version. Can anyone here explain to me what are the differences, any compatibility across these

virt-manager guest and sound
I am running C7 host and pulse audio. I have a Win 10 guest with ICH9 audio. It works - but I hear artifacts. Anything to do to help audio be flawless under guest VM ? Currently I was just on youtube and playing a song. nothing special. Plenty of resources on the host. The guest has 8G ram and 8 CPU. Thanks Jerry

low latency kernel?
Someone recently posted on the x2go list that he had a problem with jerky videos playing remotely on Ubuntu, but solved it by installing a low latency kernel that was available as an alternative. That made me curious as to whether CentOS has an equivalent - or a way to build something similar. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

Recording piano and voice
...channel through a mic preamp hooked to you microphone, with the output hooked to the other line input channel. Now, if you want to do stereo on the voice and piano, you'll either need a four channel card or you'll need to overdub, which Audacity among other programs can do. Ardour and Mixbus can do latency compensation for overdubs, but I don't know if Audacity can or not. A Zoom H4N works well for this wort of thing, either doing its own recording or being a USB-connected soundcard, which is supposed to work ok even in a Linux.

I've experienced this as well, and haven't really dug into it, since my main pro audio production tools (Harrison Mixbus and Mixbus32C) are Linux-native.? I do have Celemony Melodyne on Windows, but I haven't used it heavily enough in virtualization to notice.? I may take a look at it soon, if I need Melodyne badly enough in the near future, but since upgrading to CentOS 8 this week I have plenty of other thi...

Normalizing WAV files
Hey all, I've been googling trying to find a tool that I can use to normalize a directory full of WAV files. I found a reference to normalize in the atrpms repo but it wants to clobber several of the base rpms. Does anyone know of a tool in CentOS 6 that can normalize a directory full of WAV files that I can install without hosing up my system? -- _ ?v? /(_)\ ^ ^ Mark LaPierre

In CentOS 8 new install, old /home, .desktop opens in gedit
...me in place, verified the GNOME extensions settings I had set up after the new install. All looks good, and working like it's supposed to so far. 3.) Moved over the Win10 and Win7 virtual machines, all of that works fine. 4.) Started installing my everyday programs, beginning with Harrison Mixbus.? The program put its menu entry in place; all good. However, when I go to double click on the .desktop shortcut, it opens in gedit.? Hmm, this ain't quite right.? This worked fine on C7 in GNOME Standard mode. So, at this point, the Mixbus_6.0.702.desktop file is on my desktop, it's in...

CR getting 7.2 packages......
Heads-up to everyone: CR is getting CentOS 7.1511 (aka '7.2') packages..... just updated using CR, and, yeah, GNOME 3.14 is a bit different from 3.8...... several things are in different places on the screen. I did have to re-setup my triple monitor settings to have the laptop's display in the center and the two other displays as one on the left and one on the right. The good

virtualization on the desktop a myth, or a reality?
I am busy setting up some XEN servers on a SAN for high availability and Cloud Computing, and thought it could be cool to setup virtualization on a CentOS 5.5 Desktop, running on a Core i3 + 4GB RAM, and use the SAN's storage to see if it could actually be worth my while to replicate a Cloud Computing setup in the office. And, cause I got a bit bored waiting for a few RAID-sets to finish

Recording piano and voice
The last time I wanted to record a voice announcement on my computer was a few years back, and as I recall I hooked up my Microsoft Lifechat headset and used Audacity to do the recording. Now I want to record a "recitation", which consists of me playing my piano and talking over it. I have a Casio CDP-230 digital piano but I've never tried hooking it up to my computer and making a
