hist (PR#4395)
It is not really a bug but a strange choice. When the option freq=F chosen, hist
should plot relative frequency. It plots proportional to relative frequency by
the factor of bin width. Is there a reason for this? A more normal choice seems
to be to have it independent of the bin width.

Subgraph isomorphism using vertex labels
...subgraph isomorphism based only on
vertex and edge colors)
Eg:
graph 1:
x(1) x(2)
x(2) y(3)
y(4) x(1)
z(5) x(2)
graph 2:
x(1) y(2)
# the brackets contain the corresponding vertex ids
i would like my output to contain the two mappings from graph 1
i.e
x(2) y(3) &
x(1) y(4)

Scatter Plot Command Syntax Using Data.Frame Source
I've tried various commands. ?plot, Teetor's book, "R Cookbook", and
Mittal's book, "R Graphs Cookbook" without seeing how to write the command
to create scatterplots from my data.frame. The structure is:

time series manipulation what functions are "best"
Newbie question - mechanical engineer trying to learn R
I've had success with plotting time series data and even made a heat map
using R Graphs Cookbook by Mittal.
I have a new problem - I need to align a number of time series data
"columns" to the desired regular exact time stamp vector. The target time
vector could be finer or more course than the typical time stamp spacing
found. Probably the two time stamp spacings I will want is 1 minute or 5...

2 GB file size limit with libsmbclient and Filesys::SmbClient perl module?!
Hi,
I have a 32-bit installation of Arch Linux and I have developed my own little script (in perl) for downloading files over SMB/CIFS using multiple TCP connections to speed up the transfer. I have googled a lot but could not find any good download accelerator for files hosted over SMB/ CIFS. For example, the DownThemAll firefox add-on allows you to download files hosted over SMB/ CIFS, but is

Gráficos en R
Hola,

Missing argument error message
Back in the days of R 2.6, if you did this, you got this:
> z=function(x){x*2}
> z()
Error in z() : argument "x" is missing, with no default
But now in this decade we get (for R 2.9 and 2.10):
> z=function(x){x*2}
> z()
Error in z() :
element 1 is empty;
the part of the args list of '*' being evaluated was:
(x, 2)
Now I can see (after thinking about it)

How to read percentage and currency data?
I'm struggling to find any help on this seemingly simple question - how does
one read data with percentage (%) or currency (?,$ etc.) signs? When I try
to read a data file which has any of those symbols in the data fields, they
are read as characters rather than values. Is there a function or library
which can deal with such values?
As an example, I use this sample from one of chinna's

Win32 programs can't find files on FAT32 partitions
I'm having trouble with opening files on fat32 partitions with
programs running under wine. The programs report that they can't find
the file, even though it exists. I can open files on reiser and iso9660
partitions successfully.
The simplest program I could find that exhibits this problem is
notepad. If I provide the filename on the command line, notepad.exe
tells me it can't find

Dear all,
I'm currently running R on my laptop -- a Lenovo Thinkpad X201 (Intel Core
i7 CPU, M620, 2.67 Ghz, 8 GB RAM). The problem is that some of my
calculations run for several days sometimes even weeks (mainly simulations
over a large parameter space). Depending on the external conditions, my
laptop sometimes shuts down due to overheating.
I'm now thinking about buying a more
