Hi,
I have attached the data files to this note. I use this code:
library(zoo)
z1 <- read.zoo("baltimorefludata.txt", format = "%m/%d/%Y", header = TRUE)
z2 <- read.zoo("baltimorew.txt", format = "%Y%m%d", header = TRUE)
z3<-merge(z1,z2)
write.table(z3, "fluweatherdata_baltimore2.txt", sep="\t")

Problem with VFS audit and recycle
Is there anyone running Samba 3.0.X on Solaris 8 that has VFS working? I
am dying to know if this is a problem with my setup or if there is
something else going on. If you do have it working, please let me know
which module. Thanks.

Domain authentication failing after a period of time
I am having an unusual bit of behavior with a recently upgraded 3.0.8
installation (from 3.0.2a). I upgraded the server and retained the
secrets.tdb file. The server itself is using security = domain, and it had
been joined to the domain prior to the upgrade. Now, once I started the
new version, I couldn't log on, and would get the error "There are no

Controlling line-join style in Lattice
R users,
I am creating a series of scatterplots with Lattice's xyplot(). Some of the plotting symbols are squares with thick borders. The corners of the squares are rounded by default; I would like them to be square. In base graphics this is easily done with par(ljoin = "mitre"), and in grid graphics with gpar(linejoin = "mitre"). Is there an analogous parameter in

locfit troubles
Dear R experts,
We've been playing with the locfit package and are experiencing a
problem I am hoping for some help on.
We have a dataset of 13k points, one dimension of which is "judgment",
either 0 or 1, and the other "score", an arbitrary scalar (in this case
it's between .65 and .85). We use

About the vulnerabilities in tcpdump and gzip.
Dear list,
About a week ago, right after 5.4-RELEASE was released, I received a
mail from Gentoo Linux's security announcement list about a flaw in
tcpdump and gzip. Since none of them are operating system related, I
assumed a -p1 and -p2 of the 5.4-RELEASE. Instead, we got a patch for
the HTT security issue so I wonder, is the FreeBSD version of tcpdump
and/or gzip are secured or simply

Samba disappearing from WINS
We are running samba 2.0.4b to provide corporate print services.
Everything with regards to printing is working like a charm. However,
twice in the past two weeks, some of our Samba servers have disappeared
from the WINS servers. The WINS servers are NT servers running 4.0SP5.
The strangest part was that in one occurrence, it was the lone samba
server at one location, but in the other
