Misterious Yum install Error: "package ... is reduced"
Hi,
Here is a newbie to Yum on Centos 5. I got an
interesting yet misterious problem here.
When I rolled a mod_jk package and tried to install
it onto a bunch of Centos 5 boxes with comand 'yum -e
10 -d 10 install mod_jk', it fails with the messages
at end; and so mod_jk just ended up ignored.
But when I manually run 'rpm -ivh --test
mod_jk...rpm' on com...

the specific line in /etc/fstab is:
//andrea/plazazaza /plazazaza smbfs user,uid=500,username=samba,password=samba 0 0
share and directory names and chmod are correct, as it - suprisingly -
mounts the directory, the problem is that it doesn't give back the
command line (the suprising and misterious thing is that it sometimes
does), so i have to kill the smbmount process or close the console.
if it seems to work properly (it mounts the directory and gives the
command prompt back) and you say umount -a and mount -a again, it may
stop without any further reason (and any error message).

the mistery of priomap
Dear list,
before writeing this mail I really searched in the mailing list and deeply
red the HOWTO, but I didn''t find a clear and univoque answer to my doubt.
What is the meaning of the priomap? And what kind of TOS concerns?
My first opinin was the one-to-one correspondence of the priomap and the 16
values of the four TOS bits. I mean

Misterious hang
Hi all,
Recently one my Centos 5.7 VM just crashes at least once a day randomly (hang).
In /var/log/messages there is nothing at all that there is problem (no
error, no failure). The log just stops.
The only change I did before this crashes is I activated LDAP
authentication, and also auditd. But I don't see any evidence relating
to it.
Any clue where to look for the cause?

bug, feature of mistery?
I have two machines a linux_amd64_x86 (gentoo_amd64) and a linux_x86. Both run
R-2.1.0. I have a very long program (hopefully will become a package)
that works perfectly on the linux_amd_x64. Great means no error, no
problems and results that, where the analytic solution exists,
coincide with it. I have problem making the code run on the x64 machine. I
am baffled. The same code on the same version

Samba 3.0 PDC + XP + roaming profile = big, strange mistery of sorts
Please bear with me as this is quite a complicated problem which has
eluded me for days now...
I recently upgraded a Samba 2.2 PDC to Samba 3.0 [3.0.20a as of now].
After upgrading, I had problems with two XP machines, among 16 of them.
One of them didn't validate the domain users correctly. That was
immediately taken care of by having said machine leave and re-join the
domain. Nothing

problem installing gsl package under Ubuntu Breezy Badger
I am trying to install the gls package (a wrapper for GNU scientific library
special functions) package under Ubuntu 5.10. I have gls-bin (the debian GNU
Scientific Library binary package). When I try to install the R package, I
receive the following.

bootloader installed at wrong place during install
...installing on two
mirrored drives, the bootloader got installed into the first
partition, instead of MBR. It was a kickstart install, and I used
"bootloader --location=mbr" in the kickstart file (which is also a
default). However, when looking into /root/anaconda-ks.cfg file,
misteriously it was changed to "bootloader --location=partition" by
Anaconda!?
I've noticed this happening only when installing on two mirrored
drives. If installing on a single drive, the boot loader ends up in
MBR as it should.

How to configure a stun server for a sip peer
HI all!
I'm looking for some infos to configure stun server support for a SIP peer.
I've installed Asterisk 1.4.3, but searching for stun support in
chan_sip (sip.conf) i've found nothing, only a "misterious" externip = stun...
But where i have to put the ip of stun server?
No infos around Google and forum! :-)

C++ interface?
Dear list,
I would like to write a R package that interfaces with existing C++
classes (which I did not write myself). After having read the relevant
part of `Writing R Extensions', I have to say that the issue is still
somewhat of a mistery to me. One obvious explanation for this is that I

add user script w/ idealx perl script (ldap)
Dear samba guru,
I have a little bug i can't solve. It is pretty misterious to me,
must be a problem how samba execute the add user script. Now here
is the situation. I've compiled samba 2.2.4 with ldap 2.0.23 to run
as PDC with win2k workstations. Everything works as expected except
the add user script to add workstation automaticly to the domain.

Test should fail !
Hello, a very strange thing is happening : the test below pass but it
should fail
I had a syntax error which produced an exception in the browser and http
500 in the script/console (using app.get ''/'')
But with rake test:functionals it passes - How is it possible ? Of
course this file is really executed by the test suite, I can see it in
the screen output of rake

[Bridge] Strange DHCP behaviour with bridging
Here is the scenario: I have one server with kernel 2.4.24 with a bridge br0
made of 2 interfaces, eth0 and tap0 (the last is an OpenVPN tunnel), and one
remote computer connetting through tap0. If I assign a static IP to the
