Profile directories with the wrong name on the Windows Box
...ide. - NOW, what I have is a c:\users\jfg.oslo directory. It's annoying. Nothing showed in oslo:/var/log/samba/smbd.log.helsinki, so I'm not sure if it's a 3.5.8-related behaviour, or a Win7SP1-related one ? Is there a way to revert to the former behaviour (assuming I've made no missteps) of c:\users\username.domain instead of c:\users\username.boxname) ? Below you'll find part of my smb.conf file Regards, -- Jeff ==== SMB.CONF (parts) [global] workgroup = DEVNET server string = oslo log file = /var/log/samba/smbd.log.%m max log size = 5120 add user script = /usr/sbin...

Safari Version 5.1.3 (7534.53.10) Browser problem --- removing cookie on OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b) when still valid
...use of logger.debug in the above source will not work as the logger method is not defined! 4) I refined my tracing output strategies and ran it against both browsers: Firefox and Safari for a comparison analysis. 5) Running the Unix diff utility against the 2 browser outputs homed in on Safari missteps --- niled cookie 6) By inspecting the cookie for both browsers, it showed that Safari had removed the cookie[:remember_user_token] I sent to Apple these 2 traced outputs as evidence of the Safari problem. Recap: I found set_trace_func a good starting point to see what is happening. I experimente...

multiple ifcfg-x locations on CentOS-6
...r0 in the file system led me to the directories listed above. I do not recall seeing these before and the only difference between this CentOS box and the previous virtual host I installed is that this time I selected the virtual host install option instead of minimal install. Evidently this was a misstep on my part. One that I doubt I shall repeat. My questions are: What are these duplicate, and identical, files doing in multiple places on my system; and why are they evidently interfering with the normal processing of /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts through the service utility? -- ***...

[PATCH] btrfs: fix d_off in the first dirent
Since the d_off in the first dirent for "." (that originates from the 4th argument "offset" of filldir() for the 2nd dirent for "..") is wrongly assigned in btrfs_real_readdir(), telldir returns same offset for different locations. | # mkfs.btrfs /dev/sdb1 | # mount /dev/sdb1 fs0 | # cd fs0 | # touch file0 file1 | # ../test | telldir: 0 | readdir: d_off = 2,

Breaking Windows XP user password?
Granted this is not a UNIX system, but in case there is a UNIX tool to accomplish the goal... I am looking for a bootable CD/DVD (or application to be placed on a CD/DVD to be made bootable) that can let me mount a Windows XP drive/partition (SP1 or SP2), and force-crack the admin password (even if admin account name has been changed, but I know what it has been changed to). The application

[LLVMdev] Problems building on Msys/MingW
...;: I can dig into it further, but I thought it worthwhile to ping you guys in case you can straighten me out more easily, as I haven't done a lot of work in this environment with configure and so forth. Setting up Msys and MingW doesn't seem very straightforward, so I'm wondering if I misstepped somewhere and missed a package I need, or got the wrong version, or have some other cruft in my setup. If it will help, I can send logs of the configure, llvm build, a "make -n" build of llvm, the 2nd build of llvm, the clang build, and the config.status and config.log files. (Actual...

Any tips on teaching BDD with RSpec?
Hi I hope this is not OT. I''m training my replacement at work to do BDD Rails development. He''s done a CS/maths degree but has no professional programming experience, so he''s never NOT done a project without BDD. In a way I am jealous of his unspoilt situation :) I''ve gone about things this way: * first teach him some Ruby (he did mainly Java at

Benchmarks on Pi
I have run a few more test at different bitrates and 1.1 is looking even worse in terms of speed compared to previous versions. I have shared a google sheet which has the raw data and charts for 6,16 and 32 kbps. Unfortunately you cannot show proper error bars on Google sheets but the standard deviation is in the data if you want to look. You can see that the profile for 1.1 is a lot different
