term "should" mean. Stats and coding and using programs are a human endeavor.
This human seems to have made meaning out of terms differently than what those
who wrote the documentation seem to have intended. Only, I do not know where
the documentation or my understanding may have been missled (R docs, Numerical
Recipes, or any other source I looked at since I started).

Session ids and identification
Hi all,
AFAIK, session ids are generated and given to a user side as a cookie or
whatever so that we may later "identify" a user and their previous
authentication by that id. But this is not secure! It doesn''t matter if
we use https or "secure cookies" or some other crap. It doesn''t matter.

[Patch] rsync-2.6.2: Allow 'port = N' in rsyncd.conf
Hi,
If anyone is interested, the included patch to rsync-2.6.2 allows you to
specify the port number for an rsync server as a global option in
rsyncd.conf with 'port = <N>' (where <N> is your favorite port number).
Note that this parameter only takes effect when the server is started, not
when clients connect. Also, specifying the port in rsyncd.conf takes
precedence

Newsgroup - another try?
As nobody seems to answer my request, I simply post it again.
Is there any reason why the r-help-mailinglist should not be converted to a
newsgroup?
These were the advantages of a newsgroup I mentioned earlier:
-) you can easily search the archives
-) the discussion is faster (I experience that the R-mailinglist has a lag
of about 1 to 2 hours (not for everyone!!!). When I ask a question, I get

Strange Font
So anyway, I have been using linux for years now, currently Fedora 12, and just recently I opened a box and found several of my old windows games. Starcraft, Heroes, Age of Empires, Stronghold, etc, some of which I installed.
