Win 7 Pro again
...ther
thread.
First I tried install KB2171571
I get "The update is not applicable to your machine" so I guess it was
applied by update or sp1.
I use reg patch and restart. (I took glass of clean water meanwhile).
I'm able to join PDC successfully.
As a result I recommend to remove missleading sentence about hotfix from
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7.
Thanks for your work.

Changing passwd as ordinary user
Dear all,
when I try to change my password as ordinary user using "smbpasswd", I get
the following error message:
machine 127.0.0.1 rejected the password change: Error was : RAP86: The
specified password is invalid.
I'm sure my old password is correct and the new password also.
If I change the ordinary user password as root, everything works fine...
I would appreciate your help,

Strange behaviour in plot and points?
...my1=c(1:10),dummy2=c(1:10))
> plot(data$dummy1,data$dummy3)
A plot of the values of dummy1 against an index is produced, even when dummy3
does not exist. Same happens with points. Also, the index is used as the
x-axis, so specially when using points in a plot already made, the results
can be missleading.
Wouldn't it be better to just have an error message saying dummy3 does not
exist?
I assume this behaviour is not release, nor plattform dependent, but just in
case, I am using R 1.5.0 on Mandrake 8.2 Linux.
Thanks for your comments

0.22.0 Errata: Facts are not downcased
I forgot to mention this in my announcement yesterday.
Puppet facts are no longer downcased in the language, and string
comparisons now default to being case-insensitive. Where your
operating system might previously have been ''solaris'' or ''debian'', it
is now ''Solaris'' or ''Debian''. However, you can still do comparisons

mail_location and storage type
...article MailLocation doesn't contain any hint maildirs have to
contain at least a cur subdirectory. That information I eventually got
from mail-storages.txt - that file must be one for which the wiki isn't
an alternative.
So what is this mail about?
1. The log message is wrong or at least missleading. Would be fine if it
could get improved.
2. Is there any reason at all to have a storage prefix but still require
some special format for the directory in order to recognize it?
3. At least if the behaviour will stay, shouldn't the text from
mail-storages.txt converted to a wiki article or i...

LDAP + Samba + Windows2003
Hello All
I am new to the list and have some questions. I want to setup ldap to
authenticate for Samba and Windows 2003 server. I have done a lot of
research and everything seems to indicate that I will need to setup
Samba to be a PDC and have it join the Windows 2003 server domain and
build samba with a ldap backend. Is there another way to do this so as I
will not have to setup samba to be a

understanding stemming and synonyms
I am working with version 1.2.7 and want to use stemming and synonyms.
I use the perl-bindings and get some problems.
First of all: the perl-bindings dont allow the QueryParser a third
argument when calling parse_query! So i cannot set a default prefix
(which perhaps is the solution to my problem, but later more)
i have a simple testcase:
3 documents, every document only has one word:

[Bug 3109] New: Failure when sftp-server writes big data chunks on Windows
...est using a big chunk: 160kB.
Other SFTP clients like Putty psftp.exe use 4kB for the SFTP write
request.
The problem is that Windows API fails to make the write call with a big
data chunk.
Using smaller chunks works.
The OpenSSH SFTP server error `debug2("nothing at all written");` is
missleading as some data is actually written... just that not the whole
data.
Not sure how to properly fix this.
The SFTP protocol RFC has no special status code for a partial write.
In an ideal case, OpenSSH SFTP would have a separate condition and send
a different debug message when partial data is writ...

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 6025] New: 0 files to consider should not return code 23
...is behavior is incorrect, CODE 23 means "Partial transfer due to error". In
such a case there was CORRECTLY nothing to transfer, therefore, the program
should exit gracefully with a CODE 0 "Success". Since it has nothing to do and
therefore it did nothing.
Returning CODE 23 is missleading for other programmers using rsync inside a
shell script as is leads them to believe that there were some actual files to
download but for some reason rsync was unable to download them.
In my case, as an example i am downloadig Apache log files from a test server
this files are sometimes rotated...

3.0.7/LDAP/referrals...
AIX 5.2 OpenLDAP 2.2.15 Samba 3.0.7 (no winbindd)
I've got a stupid problem with referrals that I can't seem to ferret out.
Each Samba DC has a localhost-based LDAP replica for scalability (my
idea anyway). So the only way they will talk to the Master is if there is
need for an update. Ok.
If I make the updatedn the same as the rootdn of the replica, it updates
the local database;

Add an intro to a theora file without re-encoding?
Hello,
I would like to add a introduction video (typically a title with fade-in
/ fade-out) at the beginning of an Ogg/Theora video. I generated this
intro video in Ogg/Theora from a sequence of png files.
I would need to do this in an automatic script, because I have many such
videos to process, and without doing any re-encoding step (which would
be very costly because my videos are huge).
I

Matching Malloc and Free
I would like to profile heap usage on a per thread basis in a large application process. To do this I am tracking calls to malloc and free with the attached script. Everything seems to look OK with some simple test programmes, however, when I track the live system, the results suggest that one thread has grown by approximately 1Gb and I would be surprised if this was true because I ran pmap -x on

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 4128] New: ignore-times with link-dest behaves unexpected / sematics not clear

--link-dest=../ref/ data `whoami`@$B:dst/
ssh `whoami`@$B 'ls -li dst/data/ ; cat dst/data/*'
Of course, it can be argued that the conclusion is wrong and the long
description in the manpage missleading. --ignore-times simply does what is
says: it ignores time stamps. However, the consequences when used with other
options should be reasonable, or at least be documented.
Motivation of combining these options: Machine B is a mirrow of machine A.
Unfortunately, machine A turned out to have had a...
