during fitting of successive datasets, stall crashes iterations
Hi all, I am trying to do fitting of large sets of timeseries data, and error messages derail the process when I encounter a dataset that doesn't fit. I'd like to ignore those "misfits" and try another equation or move to the next dataset. Any ideas? (piece of code below) Thanks, --Warren ##The code looks something like this: attach(zf) x <- hours n<-length(zf[,2]) for (i in 2:n) {y <- zf[,i] plot(y ~ x, xlab = "Time (h)", ylab = Lumi, pc...

(-1 as index) OR (envelope for QQ)
I'm new to R (and to S) and am wondering about code from pages 72 and 83 of MASS (Venables+Ripley, 3rd edition), to draw an envelope on a QQ plot. Copying from the book, I've got: #... code whose gist is "a.fit <- nls(..." num.points <- length(resid(a.fit)) qqnorm(residuals(a.fit)) # illustrate data-model residuals qqline(residuals(a.fit)) samp <-

slanted stacked bar graphs?
Hello R users, I would like to generate "slanted" stacked bar graphs like those on the bottom of pages 1 and 2 in this document: http://www.wssinfo.org/fileadmin/user_upload/resources/JMP-Snapshot-SWA-HLM.pdf . I've also attached the file to this email (pdf). Does anyone know if this is possible in R? I have tried googling and searching the R help archives, and it seems like ggplot2

Bug in SMBCLIENT
I already posted this message but I had no answer. Sincerely, I think it is a bug and I'd like to hear developers on this. MySQL + R as a Replacement for SAS Proc SQL + Various Stat Procs
For cost reasons, I'd like to replace SAS on my PC under Win XP Pro. Nearly all my work involves medium-size datasets (100k-10M) records which I cleanup, relate, fliter and get into shape for analysis using SAS/SQL followed by standard statistical procedures, e.g. regression using SAS proc reg. It seems to me that this type of analysis could be done in MySQL followed by R, but I'd like

Samba unix password sync
Hello all: I know I had posted this question a while ago, but I have just not been able to get it to work. I am trying to sync samba passwords with unix passwords and it is just not working. I have attached the results of "testparm -sv /etc/samba/smb.conf > smbconfig.txt" with this email. I have also attached the "net groupmap list" results. If anyone can provide any

Changing parameter in local fdr R code
I am using Efron's local fdr procedure. But, I want to change the null from N(0,1) to N(0, 0.002). I can access the function but I have no idea what to change. In other words, I want nulltype to be N(0,0.002) instead of N(0,1) in his function. Anyone has any ideas. This is his code for the local fdr: function (zz, bre = 120, df = 7, pct = 0, pct0 = 1/4, nulltype = 1, type = 0, plot = 1,

RFC: alloca -- specify address space for allocation
Thanks, this makes the use case much more clear. Now though, as far as I would like actually to see supported in LLVM the capability of not having any special meaning assigned to address space 0 your proposal goes slightly in contrast with how I always thought of address spaces in LLVM. I also have to say that I don’t know deeply how address spaces are meant to be intended in LLVM so my vision of

[LLVMdev] Web Site Re-Design
I offered to do the web site a couple of weeks ago. Life got in the way temporarily, and it took me a long time to make it look the way that I wanted and to make it look the same in IE6. Anyway, I wanted to get some feedback on what I had done. Some concerns: 1. SSI and JavaScript seem like overkill. Each subproject can have their own look and feel by overriding the CSS
