Asterisk and MiniITX setups
How well do you think asterisk could run on a miniITX board like the ones linked below with the call volume of say a small doctors office or something? http://www.mini-box.com/s.nl/sc.8/category.15/.f - Mark -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Asterisk on a MiniITX board+Atom1.6 2gb+Sangoma USB?
Hello, does this sound as a good combination, mini-itx board with Atom dual core 1.6ghz 2G ram and a sangoma USB? For a setup with PSTN for incoming and IAX2(alaw/gsm) for outgoing calls. - Would you say its a good choice from a hardware perspective? - Roughly how many concurrent calls would one of these be able to handle? Linux choices ?
First of all, My apologies for this maybe slight OT post, but I have so much confidence and read so much good replies on this list, that I am still asking my question. I''m looking for a linux distribution to use on our school''s homemade routers. The routers are small miniITX based systems with 2 network interfaces. I added a 4 port D-Link network card in some cases, when I don''t need more than 3 pors, I simply add a realtek based card. We have 3 main sites, wich are connected through a 802.11b link. One of the 3 sites will be using 2 boxes, one for the wirele...

USB Audio sound card
...tunately, none of the 1U servers I've been looking at come with audio outputs (there aren't even audio headers on the motherboard), and I've used the only availabnle slot for my fancy graphics card! Now, a lesser (or maybe smarter) individual would give up at this point, and go back to MiniITX or a 2U rackmount (if I could find a short-depth one). "Nay!" I say. What about USB Audio? I don't need 5.1 or 7.1 audio here; I'm plugging in a Dell monitor soundbar. A quick search of the web says that yes, these devices will work under CentOS and show up as /dev/dspX devices....

Minimal installation How-to?
Hi all I would like to install the minimal level of Centos, with yum & selinux on my servers during the basic install from CD with Anaconda and then use yum to install whatever application is major on that server, so that yum installs its dependencies only, thus keeping to the target of installing only what is needed on a server. Please advise pros/cons of this approach and how to do it. I

Help! Directing Inbound calls to different extensions
OK, Asterisk Newbie I've read TFOT and the Asterisk handbook and lurked, but my skills are a bit poor so perhaps someone could post a dialplan fragment to help me Brief details Asterisk@home 2.6 installed on a miniITX system Digium 400 card with 3 FXO modules 3FXS interfaces by Iaxy (1FXS) and Linksys PAP2 (Sipura 2002) (2FXS) I started with AMP to get going but have started re-writing the dial plan a bit to get what I want. What I want to do is direct each FXO to its own extension so when a calls come in...

CentOS 4.2 Server CD - i386 Released
...hen be installed via yum or up2date once the system is running. The resulting installed system is identical to a normal CentOS 4 install ( with yum and up2date ). One important thing to keep in mind - this installer uses the stock i686 kernel - therefore i586 machines are not supported ( including MiniITX, ViaC3's, AMD K6' etc ). If you need to install on such machines, you will need to get the full distro. Download the ServerCD from /centos/4/isos/i386/ directory on your local mirror or pickup the torrent. any 64-bit mini-itx successes
Is there anyone who has successfully put together a "high-powered" mini-itx ZFS box that would be willing to post their system specs? Motherboard and chipset compatibility
So, having returned from a month's vacation, I'm back to work on attempting to build a set of small form factor CentOS compatible computers. I've really tried to do my homework, but this doesn't appear (at first glance) to be at all easy. It's not made easier by the fact that I have to get it right the first time (and I haven't built a PC in a decade); the time and money

CentOS or other Linux Internet Router/Gateway
Hi Everyone, I've got kids who are growing older and I want to build a Linux box to filter Internet access. I've got six computers on the Internet, plus the laptops -- most run Windows. I'm not sure if it's called a router or gateway or...? I don't mind doing the leg work, I just don't know where to start. I'm pretty sure I'm *not* looking for a web server (though
