Do I need NETBIOS/NETBEUI on windows clients when samba is my PDC
Hi, I replaced my old Windows NT box runnig as PDC with a Cobolt Qube 3 and Samba-2.2.2-C1. Cobalt Linux version is 2.2.16C33_III+VPN. With the WinNT as PDC, all windows client's in the network had only TCP/IP protocol installed and they were able to browse the network and see each other. With Samba running as PDC, TCP/IP only is not enough to browse the network. I had to install NETBIOS

can browse/copy/delete file from samba's shares but can't print
Hi, We installed Linux 8 with Samba 2.2.5-10. Sambe gets the network pc's names and passwords from our PDC-windows NT machine. In samba.cfg we have: security=server password server = xxxxxxxx (ip address of our PDC) We have a printer on that machine and we want to share it in the network. cannot get a list of Win2000/NT shares using SMBCLIENT -L with anonymous login
Hi folks, From my RedHat Linux box Im using smbclient L to obtain the list of shares on a particular computer in the network. I use guest as user name or just omit the user name. I can get the list of shares on every single Linux or Win9X machines in the network but I cannot obtain the list of shares on Win2000 and Win NT machines.
