Using STP in kvm bridges
Hi all, Reading docs about using bridges in a KVM environment, I have a doubt about activating STP or not in a KVM host. What advantages and disadvantages have?? If I will want to install some kvm guests that use multicast address for certain services, is it recommended to enable STP? Thanks.

KVM virtio block layer - is TRIM/DISCARD supported?
...VM's virtio I/O layer pass the TRIM/DISCARD commands to the SSD? I guess the question would be twofold: 1) is TRIM supported/forwarded if only one LVM'ed partition of SSD is forwarded? 2) is TRIM supported/forwarded if full SSD is forwarded (i.e. /dev/sdX) -- Best regards, Dmitry Mikhailov

OT: adding a wifi adapter to openvswitch
Hi all, Finally, I have installed openvswitch from source to two CentOS hosts: one 6.x and other 7.x. I will do some tests using openvswitch bridges to my KVM machines. One of these tests is to add a wlan0 adapter from comandline but only when this wlan0 is associated with a ssid without assign an IP. Is this posible? Do I nees to add some ebtables like, for example, Debian's wiki

I am not sure the overall result is worth the effort but it will teach you lots about your wifi interface and Openvswitch. On 09/24/2015 06:59 AM, Dmitry E. hashed password, send reminder email...impossible?
Is it possible to somehow send an email containing the user password if it is stored as a md5 hash in the database? Is it stupid to save the passwords as clear text strings in the db? Its a web shop. A workaround would be to generate a new password and send it to the user. If the user then want to, he may change to another password. Any other thoughts on this? //D -- Posted via

VM fails to start on host bootup, but starts fine manually. Why?
I have 5 VMs on my host. The first four are setup to start on boot. But only the first three end up running. The fourth has to be started manually. "Start virtual machine on host bootup" is checked on all four VMs but the fourth VM does not get started on host bootup. After the host boots up, the VM is "Shutdown" state. If I go into "virt-manager" and click

Virtual NICs on a Xen VM
Currently, I've got a Centos 5.8 host that I began playing with Xen virtual machines. It's a sandbox sort of server where I try and learn all of this virtualization stuff. In the future, I'll more than likely swith to Centos 6 and kvm, but for now, it's xen. Searching google and the list, I can't find an explanation of how to add a second virtual NIC to a running VM when I
