Upgrade 6 to 7
I found this site https://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/CentOSUpgradeTool
Is this still the case - there is no upgrade path from 6 to 7 ?
I have a few remote servers I'd like to upgrade (if possible).
Thanks,
Jerry

SCSI drives and Centos 7
Everyone,
about 4 years ago, I tried to install CentOS 6 on a Supermicro server
with SCSI drives using a LSI raid system. I could never figure out or
find a way to make the installation disc of Centos 6 identify the SCSI
drives. The installation disc for Centos 5 identified the SCSI drives
without a problem. I finally gave up on Centos 6 and installed Centos 5
and the system has worked very

Red Hat does discontinue support for some storage driver for very old
hardware when they start a new release series. For EL6, that list is here:

It is supported, with some limitations, in rhel, so the same I think
applies to CentOS.

openLDAP under CentOS-6
...I can't work out how to set the password
for the web interface at <server>/phpLDAPadmin .
Again, if anyone can tell me how to do this
I shall be most thankful.
Incidentally, I looked at the RHEL documentation on this,
<http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/
6/html/Migration_Planning_Guide/ch07s03.html>,
but it was so sparse as to be more or less useless.

upgrade reference docs
Is there a Centos 6.x to Centos 7.x guide somewhere? What has changed, that I
need to learn about as an admin, before I jump in and flounder?
thanks,

UID/GID CentOS 6 to CentOS 7
Hi,
we are upgrading some servers from C6 to C7 with a lot of user accounts
on them (UID>=500).
CentOS 7 has MIN_UID/MIN_GID 1000, Centos 6 has 500 in login.defs.
Can I change in /etc/login.defs MIN_UID/MIN_GID to 500 for C7? So I
could just grep the users out from passwd/shadow/group files and append
them to the Centos7 passwd/shadow/group files.
Can this do any damage to CentOS7 later

Convert Filesystem to Ext4
On a running 64 bit CentOS 5.6 box is it possible to convert from Ext3
to Ext4 to improve performance? Right now I can deal with a few hours
of downtime on it. This is an email server with lots of I/O due to
seek time. Software RAID1 as well. Will Ext4 offer much of an
improvement?

CentOS 6 system-config-bind missing?
First system-config-network is not part of CentOS/RHEL 6, now I don't see system-config-bind either. Is there an alternative (GUI) way to manage the bind DNS server?

02 4 * * * root run-parts /etc/cron.daily
22 4 * * 0 root run-parts /etc/cron.weekly
42 4 1 * * root run-parts /etc/cron.monthly

centos 6.2; mount 6TB OSX formatted FW
Hi all,
Trying to mount an FW800 6TB volumes.
The logs say;
cannot find hfs+ superblock
and
volumes larger then 2TB are not supported yet
Is my case really because of the >2TB volume?
Thanks in advance,

Centos6 ipsec troubles
Hello,
it looks like the usual way to do ipsec on centos5 won't work anymore on
centos6
I installed ipsec-tools but an interface type IPsec is not recognized by
the kernel
ifup ipsec0
Device does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
I am not planning to use the awful OpenSwan, I Want to sue the Kame
implementation which was working fine on CentOS5
any hints ?
thank you
