Change somebody else's domain password?
Hi, I am trying to find a way to change NT4 domain password from linux. smbpasswd works fine if you know user's old password but I am looking for a way to connect to PDC using all-mighty Administrator credentials and change other user's password. I have searched all over the web in vain. Have anybody done that? How? Maybe using tools other than Samba? Thanks a lot, Sergei

How many R packages are not free?
Hello Everyone,   Just finished reading A Handbook of Statistical Analyses using R by Everitt and Hothorn. I'll begin by saying that I quite liked the book. It's both little and mighty in the sense that it's very compact but contains a tremendous amount of useful material.   The last chapter of the book deals with cluster analysis.  There's a package used in this chapter (I believe that it's called mclust) that charges an annual fee to non-academics. I did a little di...

automatically adjusting axis limits
...but the y-axes limits do not adjust automatically, leaving many spectra out of the axis limits ;( I don't want to set the axis limits by hand as I need this script to be completely autonomous. I don't want to program lines of code to calculate those limits myself either.... I am sure the mighty R can do it... BUT HOW???? (Matlab would easily do it with a single command) What I need is a command that will redraw the graph by automatically adjusting the axis limits. I have been searching for many days on the web, forums and mailing list archives but I still don't know how to do it. Pl...

[LLVMdev] Register based vector insert/extract
...; that will give you a chance to become more familiar with various > pieces of > the early code generator. :) I have other higher priority tasks right now, but I think we'll want to have this in sooner rather than later. If you have any pointers on a good starting point it'd be mighty helpful. If I can get a grasp on it I'll start incremental work in the background. Probably the place to start would be opening a PR. [LLVMdev] problems with single byte stores in the arm backend
I have been struggling with this for way too long now, so hopefully the mighty list can help: I am trying to generate a byte store instruction storing the constant value 4 at some given address in a new helper function inside ARMISelLowering.cpp I tried: SDValue Val = DAG.getConstant(4, MVT::i8); SDValue Store = DAG.getStore(chain, dl,...

yum does not update package list
Hello. I have been trying to add rpmforge as a repository, but yum does not seem to be updating the package lists. I tried $ yum check-updates [...] Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * base: <mirror> * epel: <mirror> * extras: <mirror> * rpmforge: mirror.ate.info * updates: <mirror> and searched for any package available there, like i3 and mpv. Hidden voicemail feature - send message to pager
...ing else I noticed that you can add a pager email address to the voicemail box configuration like 1000 => 1234,Ask Bjoern Hansen,ask@develooper.com, 1235551234@example.com to get a short notice about the new voicemail sent to 1235551234@example.com. Very neat. Feature request: It would be mighty cool to get the voicemails stored as mp3s; at least for the email attachments. - ask (contemplating writing a simple voicemail app in Perl to do it :-) ) -- http://www.askbjoernhansen.com/

R performance--referred from Bioconductor listserv
...an see how your machine stacks up. Looks like R is substantially faster than S-plus. My problem is this: with 512Mb and an overclocked AMD Athlon XP 1800+, running at 588 SPEC-FP 2000, it still takes me 30 minutes to analyze 4Mb .cel files x 120 files using affy (expresso). Running svm takes a mighty long time with more than 500 genes, 150 samples. Questions: 1) Would adding RAM or processing speed improve performance the most? 2) Is it possible to run R on a cluster without rewriting my high-level code? In other words, 3) What are we going to do when we start collecting terabytes of array d...

Need firewalld clue
I don't really understand the intent behind firewalld. The RHEL7 Security Guide states "A graphical configuration tool, *firewall-config*, is used to configure firewalld, which in turn uses *iptables tool* to communicate with *Netfilter* in the kernel which implements packet filtering". So is the goal for firewalld to implement a GUI for iptables? What is the "value added"

Patch for OpenSSH/mmap() on Linux 2.2
A colleague was having trouble running OpenSSH 3.3p on his server. He, like many of us, has been clobbered by the mighty security penis of Theo De Raadt into enabling "privsep". But on some Linux 2.2 kernels, this is broken. Apparantly, OpenSSH "portable" relies on non-POSIX compliant mmap() features. Making the mmap() call in monitor_mm.c look something like this: { char templa...
