Generating help files for a function
Hello everyone!
I'm in the process of writing a package, and I'm using the lovely "R
Package" book as a guideline.
However, in the midst of my work, I discovered that I had omitted a
function and am now putting in it the package. Not a problem. But the
problem is the help file. What is the best way to generate a help file
"after the fact" like that, please?
Thank you in advance. Hope everyone is enjoying various holi...

Capistrano / developing on win32 / deplyoying on Linux
Hi,
I''m new at rails and am in the midst of deploying my first app to a test
server. The app was developed on windows. I used Capistrano to deploy,
and found a few issues:
1) I must chmod 755 dispatch.cgi each time I deploy
2) script/parse/reaper also doesn''t have the executable attributes so
the deployment fails.
3) database....

Dovecot LDA munging INBOX access times?
We are running Dovecot 1.0.0 using mbox format (currently in the midst
of conversion from UW IMAP). We discovered today that the Dovecot LDA
is accessing the user's INBOX at delivery time! Not only do our users
rely on this access time being when they last accessed their e-mail,
we also rely on it to migrate "inactive" users to cheaper disk.
I consider...

librarian-puppet vs git superproject?
Can anyone comment on their experiences with librarian-puppet or using git
superproject with per puppet module repositories? We are in the midst of
determining which route is optimal for our environment. It seems like using
git superprojects would mean one less new tool for everyone to learn. What
then would be the advantages of librarian-puppet?
Thanks,

Icecast is running, but not responding
Sorry, I seem to have buried the issue in the midst of the post.
The issue is, the Icecast is running, but will not display a web interface
at my.ip.address:8000 and will not accept connections from my encoder.
Anyone have any idea why it might be behaving this way?

Recommended passdb backend
We're in the midst of setting up a Samba 3 system as our PDC. I come from a
Samba 2 world, where the passdb backend was smbpasswd. What's the ... er,
'best' passdb backend at this point?
To qualify best, there's no limitations on the type of storage used (LDAP,
MySQL, XML, etc). I'm just look...

Stress testing for ext3?
Does anyone know of a good method for exercising an ext3 file system? Perhaps something that involves power removal in between commits or in the midst of a write, and then checks for corrupt data. Do any utilities exist for this?
Thanks!

Windows 10 administrative templates /central store with Samba
...after having used the RSAT tools for Win10. But I am not
able to find this post again. Does somebody remember or is able to tell
how to avoid such (or other) trouble?
Also, Viktor Trojanovic and Robert Watson reported the same error
message on administering a domain from Win10 with RSAT in the midst of
November. Have you been able to understand/solve it?

Hardware-based Icecast source client
Hi all,
I'm in the midst of creating a turnkey Icecast source client embedded in
a plug computer, using Ices2.
I've hacked together some scripts to automate the starting and stopping
of a live stream (launched by pressing buttons on the device). It's dead
easy once the network/server is configured - you just plug...

FTS solr info
Are there updated instructions on setting up FTS with solr? I?m in the midst of upgrading my site and the links don?t appear to work or be applicable to current versions of solr. I grabbed 6.3.0 from apache and the instructions are no longer working, e.g., there?s no `solr/conf/schema.xml` file to replace; the `start.jar` has moved, etc.
Just wondering if there?s somewher...

-R port forwarding and remote host:port info
After the previous small patch submitted to log info
about X11 forwarding, I've moved on to trying to log
information about remote port forwarding.
The remote hostname is showing up as 'localhost'.
That's not useful.
sshd -ddd shows the following in the midst of an
incoming "ssh -R 22220:faron:22 linus". Obviously
I want to see the word 'faron' somewhere but don't.
That seems like a bug to me.

partial residuals in plot.gam()
All,
Sorry for bombarding you with GAM related questions, but...
I know a partial residual option in plot.gam() is on Simon Wood's todo
list, but since I'm in the midst of a project and not yet having acquired
sufficient R knowledge to code something usable myself I'll have to put my
trust in you. Anybody got some code lying around for doing this? Or if
someone can supply me with enough hints for doing it myself, I'd be most
grateful.
Thanks,
Henric

XP sharing private shares?
We're in the midst of setting up some XP workstations and came across a

Essentially, when bob logs into a workstation (samba acting as the PDC),
then alice logs onto the workstation, alice can peruse bob's [homes] share.
Anyone know how I would go about disabling this? I'm...

the issues of systems of this sort? I'm at the
moment trying to hand construct a machine xml
file for it. I managed to create one which would
load but not start.

should work!", but no cases of anyone actually doing it. And I'm
unable to reach out to the upstream vendor directly until some
paperwork gets straightened out.
(And oh, I've been away from CentOS for a while, but am in the midst
of deploying about 50 CentOS VM's on KVM virtualization if I can *get
this working!!!!*)

sql_session_store on rails2
Hi
We''re in the midst of upgrading our rails 1.2.6 app to rails 2.0. We
have been using the sql_session_store plugin for our sessions. I
wondering if anyone is still using SqlSessionStore on their rails 2
apps? Is it still worthwhile?
Thanks,
Ray
