Polycom power over ethernet (PoE) cables for 500/501, 600/601 and 650 sets
...les can replace the default external AC injection cable completely. The module, for those who are interested, provides ground-loop detection and protection. Early revisions of the 802.3af standard did not provide for ground-loop protection in the midspan, and so phones would overload (and fry) PoE midspans (this is strong evidence that there were no telecom engineers in the 802.3af working group, since ground-loop protection has been a necessary part of PSTN systems since the dawn of time). I suspect newer midspan equipment is not burdened with this problem, which would explain why some people can u...

Noise on FXS ports (Sangoma)
Hi: I have a Sangoma A200 card installed in a server with two FXO modules and one FXS module. Analog sets connected to the FXS module have a "squeaky static" -- it's like static mixed with the sound of someone vigorously cleaning a window a few doors down. In other words, it's not a classic static noise, but it is noise, and it's distracting. Remote callers can hear this

How to make/recieve call using asterisk when thereis a power failure?
Sorry I dont have any answers, however I do have a question. I was told that ISDN-30 lines do not work during power failure. Can anyone with some better knowledge confirm or deny this? Is this because the ISDN-30 box on the wall requires power (and Telco providers just dont hook them into UPS as standard)? Or do they mean if your local circuit has lost power so will the local digital exchange

Power Over Ethernet for *any* ethernet switch (or hub); product idea
Based on several threads I've read on this list, I assume that it would be handy to supply POE (power over ethernet) in an environment without having to purchase POE switches (assumed expensive) and abandon one's existing (familiar/custom/not-yet-expensed/etc.) switches/hubs. Assume I have a non-POE switch with 24 RJ-45 (ethernet) ports. I design a 1U box that can be mounted just

[PoE] Avaya 1152a1x
Sorry for posting slightly off topic, I use an Avaya 1152a1x midspan device to deliver power some Snom phones. The Power distrubution unit seems to be identical to PowerDsine PD-6024G/AC/M. I can get some basic information via SNTP (networking setup, uptime) but no port monitoring and no monitoring of power output using snmpwalk on the device. Does anyone has experience wit such an device?

Power Over Ethernet for *any* ethernet switc h (or hub); product idea
That'd be the 3CNJP24SE, we have one that powers 3COM NJ-200's. Works well. -----Original Message----- From: Martin [mailto:marrandy@chaossolutions.org] Sent: Tuesday, January 20, 2004 9:23 AM To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] Power Over Ethernet for *any* ethernet switch (or hub); product idea On Tuesday 20 January 2004 10:30 am, Kevin Ragsdale wrote:

Orinoco Injectors
Has anyone gotten the Lucent / Orinoco injectors (AE-1, AE-6, AE-12) to work with the Cisco 79* series phones? I'm not sure if the are the statndard POE or not.... -Darren

Netgear FS116P and Cisco 79XX phones
I am hoping that someone has had better luck with this than I have. I would like to connect Cisco 7940s and 7960s to the Netgear FS116P, and take advantage of its POE. I know that the Cisco phones use Cisco's "pre-standard" POE implementation, but as I understand it the difference is really only two pins. I bought a bunch of PowerDsine inline power adapters which supposedly change

Power Over Ethernet for *any* ethernet switch(or hub); product idea
...as able to use PoE. The detection process is passive on the device, since if it has no power it cannot 'signal' that it needs power. The process is repeated several times a second to ensure that a PoE is not unplugged and a non-PoE is plugged into it's place and damaged. Issues with midspans devices: The 24 port models are usually 12 port in reality. 12 in and 12 out. Sure there are 24 ports, but you are only going to power 12 devices. So in a larger environment they quickly get expensive. To make the whole situation more interesting the Cisco phones support not only 802.3af, but...

PoE module
Hello; We have a cisco switches but they are not PoE and we need only to have PoE device so the cables come for it first to provide the power and then goes to the switch (to be like batch panel), is there something like this that can be used for the IP Phones? Cisco phones and Linksys SRW224P
I'm having problem powering Cisco phone's (7940 and 7905) on Linksys SRW224P switch (with PoE functionality). I have tested three phone's, one is working (7905) and two aren't (7905 and 7940). I have plugged all three phones on same switch port with same cable! Do I need to change anything in phone configuration? Is there something wrong with Linksys switch? How can I troubleshoot

Current echo status?
I've been following the list for months, and I have a working Asterisk setup, but it'd be *really* useful to me at this point if someone could summarize when Asterisk has echo problems and when it doesn't. For instance, I usually hear a far-end echo when talking on my 7940, but not when using a POTS phone plugged into a TDM400 FXO port. It doesn't seem to matter if the call

POE hub
I need to connect up to sixteen phones per building, I can use a cheap hub, but POE would be useful. Is there a cheap POE hub available? Everything I have seen has been expensive. Chris Mason
