Samba 3.0.0-2 WINS Static entries
Hi,
I'm trying to add static entries to the wins.dat file, as per The Official Samba 3 How-to guide but can't get it to work.
If I add entries and just leave it be, the server responds with unknown host and If I restart nmbd it removes all the entries (static) that I manually added.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug ?

adding users to group with net rpc
section 13.3.2 of the HOWTO shows that i can add a user to a group with the
following command:
root# net rpc group addmem "MIDEARTH\Engineers" ajt -Uroot
when i execute this command (replaced with my server specific values, of
course), i get a NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER error.
i can verify that my user DOES exist and that he belongs to the posix group
account. i can also verify that the posix group account is mapped to the

samba 3.0 with ldap / sambaSID
Hello,
I'm lloking for a way to convert my company's existing samba2.2 ldap
backed service to samba 3.0. What's particulary making me curious is the
sambaSID. As I've read it is the unique identifier of a PDC in the
windows world. So, how does samba3 generate this? Is it supposed to be
changed by the admin or is it determined by samba on the first startup?
Any pointer to a doc

Auto mapping to windows home drives?
This could be quite simple but I don't know how to do it.
Does anyone know how I can automatically mount a users home drive (which is
located on a windows server) when they log in? Is there a pam module for
that?
Thanks very much,
Sapan

Because I did not receive any useful answer on this issue, I want to ask now

Lost trust relationship with domain controller
Hi all,
Not less than 3 months ago we had our Solaris 9 samba server working
happily. This is with samba 3.0.24 without ads support. The pertinent
sections of the smb.conf file follow:
[global]
# workgroup = NT-Domain-Name or Workgroup-Name, eg: MIDEARTH
workgroup = mydomain
security = domain
We created the machine trust acount on the server than used > net rpc
join -U administrator%passwd
to join the domain. Great huh?!
Well, now when we try to access the samba server we get a message saying
the trust relationship has been lost. We...
