rsync scalability [Virus checked]
Hello rsync-users, I need to transfer an PC image-file (200 to 400 MB) to 500 locations, which are equal as concurrent users on the day X. what parameters do you suggest to use on the central rsync-server? any recommendation for socket options? is it a good idea to split the file into several pieces, let?s say 10 MB ? Using LDAP with samba
is it possible and how difficult is it, to use LDAP for all the user accounts and groups and password management? would this be something you would want to do? or is it better to stick with samba's initila way of dealing with users? Caleb O'Connell caleb@lincoln.midcoast.com (207)882-7792

Microsoft and roving profile Outlook woes. Fixed.
Hi, One for the archives: Problem: Microsoft Outlook Express client takes a woefully gruesomely long time to start when using roving profiles on a Samba share. Fix: Turn off oplocks on the share. Eg: [netlogon] writeable = yes browseable = yes oplocks = no ... ... Eddie. -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed

Hi, Only getting 300 - 400 kbytes/sec on file copies, in both directions. I'm using SAMBA 2.06 on FreeBSD 3.4 The server is far from overloaded, and ftp transfers between the same client and server go about 8 times faster. I have set socket options = IPTOS_LOWDELAY TCP_NODELAY SO_SNDBUF=131072 SO_RCVBUF=32768 I've never
